Did everyone see the Tribune editorial on 11/3/06, opposing the TPD proposed pay raises?

The Trib correctly believes that if the general public finds out how much money the local cops make they will OPPOSE pay increases.

Part of the reason that so much information is available is all of the bickering that goes on here on the message board about which agency is the "best" based upon pay, etc.

It's time to SHUT UP about the union "demands" on the public board. Contract issues should be discussed on the PBA board.

The PBA is going to lose big time in the TPD negotiations and probably for HCSO as well.

For "public servants" the police appear to the general public to be overcompensated if not actually overpaid.

It's time to take a lower profile.

WE ALL MUST TAKE A STAND AGAINST THE TAMPA TRIBUNE AND THERE BIAS " UNTRUTHFUL " REPORTING OF FACTS. THIS PAPER IS SOOOO FAR TO THE LEFT AND LIBERAL, THEY WANT TO BLAME NOW THE COPS FOR " PROPERTY TAXES ". THIS IS A JOKE AND WHEN CONTRACT ISSUES DO ARISE, REMEMBER THE TRIBUNE WIL SCHEME AND PAINT A BAD LIGHT ON YOU....SO YOU WILL LOSE BENFITS. STAND UNITED AND SUPPORT YOUR BROTHERS.

The Trib would have their information with or without this board as they get their stuff from the City, and if you think it comes from any where else we need a B52 for you.

Yeah well I have family and church activities plus shift work to attend to. I can't make the meetings. Oh well, I'll continue to be left in the dark as usual by the PBA. I'll rely on the minutes that don't say anything and rep's that don't know anything and the PBA website that also says nothing along with their newsletter that says.. you guessed it...nothing.

The problem is TPD poor mouths while being the highest compensated. Good for them, but if they push it, they will lose, ask and receive a fair raise, don't allow them to see how many TPD personnel have 2-3 cars a boat a high end house, and then ask for more saying they don't get paid enough.

The public will see this as greed in this economy where most private sector people will see little raise. You're going to kill the golden goose.

HCSO needs to take note to what is happening and not make the same mistakes, get what you can but you have to keep it within bounds. The public will always support a reasonable request. If you go beyond you will lose that support.
