that is the first year which is still way behind, what follows?

10-19-2006, 08:57 PM
A little over a thousand per year. We don't get a raise in April, though. So that $5k is until next October.

10-19-2006, 09:32 PM
What follows? Find your step and add 6 percent for year 2 and add 6 percent on that figure for year 3.

Behind? Behind who?
Behind MSO yes but a Deputy maxes out at $49,000 plus incentives
Sarasota City yes but only after they get out of FTO about $41,000 something

Behind?
North Port--No
Venice --No
Palmetto--NO
Holmes Beach--NO
Bradenton Beach--No
Sarasota Sheriff--No
All of the above make the same or less than us on this new contract.

Bottom line; after reading the contract with good eyes.

Yes a big bump the first year for everyone, followed by a fluctuating percent, depending on where YOU fall in years of service. Adding 6% for step two and three is not correct for everyone.

I remember the first PBA meeting, when Thiers held up our proposal and stated, "this is what we are sticking to, correct." Everyone agreed, and we were all pumped that for once ALL of us were going to stick to something. Imagine that, some money is added out to the new guys and some senior, putting the approval somewhere around 50%. WAKE up and lets stick to the original plan. F'n snakes in the grass are worried about what THEY are getting and could give a s*it about everyone else. Nothing will ever change. For myself, It is no all the way...not to be negative, however, I will stay true to what was agreed upon in the original PBA meeting.

Actually, by the offer the city gave, they actually take AWAY one of my years of service. At the end I would be at over 6 years, and they would only pay be 5. So I miss that big raise.

Hey Kidding me. How many years have you been here? Do you really think that this is bad? Were you here when Evers was running the city? Stop crying, do your job, and shut up! I know for a fact that when you started working here they told you what you were going to be making, if your not happy with it you should have never started working here. And please don't compare us to any other agency, we are Bradenton, the same place that gave you a start. Not Tampa, not MSO, not Sarasota. If you can't do anything but complain, please do everyone a favor and go apply somewhere else.

Hey I guess I am crazy but this looks like a very fair offer to me. I don't expect to get rich but receive a fair salary and this looks quite fair to me.
Who in Government or in the Private sector gets a least a 9 plus pay raise?
Looks like to me the City did as much as it could this year.

I do think we need at least a 3 and a 3.5 for next year. And keep it at a two year deal.

BRADENTON IS A JOKE AND ALWAYS WILL BE. THIS DEPARTMENT IS FULL OF CRAP AND WILL NEVER IMPROVE!

Im Signing...Im a rookie and this offer seems fair to me. I know you senior officers dont give a damn about us new guys, but guess what the feeling is mutual. Just remember you started where we are at one time. There are alot of rookies on the road now and we all agree that this is a fair deal. I heard from some of the seniors at one of the meetings, and I quote " Screw the rookies, they dont need the money!"... As far as I'm concerned, this is a stepping stone department and I am getting what I can, While I can

10-20-2006, 04:17 AM
I'm not a rookie, but I haven't been here 5 years. Close, but not. Anyway, the rookies do need the money. So do the older guys. I don't know why we can't just all stick together like we said we were.

Wait a damn minute.... at the top of this form (both versions) i only saw 3 % in year 2 and 3... where the hell are you getting this 6 percent and 12 pecrcent over 2 years???? year 2 only goes up roughly 1000 dollars, year 3 goes up alittle more. please explain

10-20-2006, 01:10 PM
3 percent pay raise in Oct. then 3 percent COLA later on for a total of 6 for the year

10-20-2006, 01:34 PM

I have been with BPD for a LOOONNNGGGG time. I started at just over $19,000. After Six months I got a $1000 raise. At my 1 year mark I got another $1000 so after one year just over $21,000. After that it was 3% a year on my hire date. I sat down and figured out what I would have been making at that pace. Starting at $22,000 it ended at $35,303. WOW. I am currently at just over $54,000. That's a $19,000 difference. There are more concerns to the contract than just money. Remember why you wanted to get into law enforcement in the first place. You knew what the pay was when you came here. The union has done an execellent job. YOU get out of it what YOU put into it. The dissmal attendance showed how much everyone really cared.

Petty

Petty, good response, however I think your tapered sleeves are cutting off the circulation to your pea brain. By the way it is 2006, and I am glad that in all your years of service you learned how to add numbers. After all these years you have been treated like a piece of s*it and paid like it, it is no wonder why you would accept anything. Times have changed, people are smarter and accept less sh*t. You should not blame anyone for wanting equal pay or benefits. If your head really hurts now, just run to S&R and Nancy will loosen those sleeves for you. Petty you in my heart dog. I will always have fun busting on you!

Petty--a lot of us agree with you and we respect your thoughts. We have a lot of respect for you.
