Sheriff Judd - how it should be done

Wow, I'm thoroughly impressed with Sheriff Judd in Polk County. Somehow, I think they have a different mentality over there in Polk, they get the job done.

Would the Pinellas Co. sheriff have the balls to do the same? Our chief? Largo? St. Pete? :::cough, cough, cough:::

Another thing, maybe now, just maybe, the city will see just what each of us faces EACH AND EVERY DAY we put on our uniform. There is no pay that is "fair" or "enough" for the risk we have. BUT, give us the respect, the courtesy to pay us more than civilians... people with a desk job and no risk. Give us a wage that not only keeps up with inflation, but more to compensate for the danger factor.

It's not about money, they have that... it's about respect and they don't respect the job we do... plain and simple, folks.

Crybaby while I agree that we know the risk of being a Police Officer. Where did you come up with the notion that you only need a GED to be a police officer? every agency now requires atleast a two year college degree. So get your facts straight....

Why not spend it on new homes for the homeless?You must not forget tht you are first in line for a bullet and last in line for a raise. :o :o :o

Wow, you really don't have a clue. First you say "we" do a great job, then you say to stop crying about the pay.

First of all, many LEOs ARE leaving the profession or are moving to other departments that pay better. What happens when you don't have any qualified candidates applying or enough officers on the streets? So, when you have an intruder breaking into your house, please be patient while the available officers who are already spread thin at most departments.. can get to you. K?

Second of all, your 'logic' is a joke. lol Spend money on new homes for the homeless? Nice edumacashun you got there.... Most homeless CHOOSE to be homeless. They have more programs for the homeless here in Pinellas, than most counties. An what a good investment... we have more homeless that are still panhandling, turning tricks, using drugs and drinking most other counties.

Lastly, yes many times 'we' are first in line for a bullet and we do sacrifice so much for this job (that someone has to do, btw) So, any somewhat intelligent person would reason the higher the risk, the higher the pay.

It goes to show how backwards things are when people like you put so much emphasis on a college degree. 'We've' had many wash out of our department's training program, with 4 year degrees because they couldn't write a decent report.

A degree is a piece of paper. It could mean you cheated your way through 4 years of college or that you paid someone to do the work for you. It could mean you got through by the skin of your teeth.

It also means that a month after your finals, if you retook them, you'd most likely fail them all. Nice.

Anyway, you sound bitter... like you dated a cop that moved on to greener pastures. So, go away and stop trying to look cool with all your smilies.. we all know the type. Bye, bye, loser!
