--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The PBA met with the City on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006. The following proposals were handed to the City:

7.5% for fiscal year 2007
6.5% for fiscal year 2008
6.0% for fiscal year 2009
The pay increases were coupled with TPD's outstanding record of crime reduction for the past three years, and compared with the cities of Jacksonville and Orlando, both of whom are battling serious crime increases in their respective jurisdictions.
Additionally the PBA proposed a one time bonus for each officer, payable upon ratification of the contract. The amount proposed for each officer is $750.00. This was an approximation of 1.25% of a current step 10 Police Officer. The bonus was modeled after several staff members of TPD management recieved approximately 3 and 4% bonuses during 2005. Those bonuses are shown below:

Chief Steve Hogue $2038.40
Major G. McNamara $4,451.20
A/C Jane Castor $4,950.40
Major Mike George $4,950.40
Laura McElroy $2,308.80

We expect an answer from the City during the week of Sept. 11, 2006. We'll have an update at that time.

Let's give the PBA some room guys it seems as though they are trying, hopefully they can pull this out.

By the way Laura McElroy got a $2300 bonus thats insulting.

Relax on poor McElroy
She got a parking ticket!!! (but went down the same road as City Councilman White in trying to have it taken care of)
She had a rough time and needed the money. The only thing she didnt do was get on a police radio...

As far as the other bonuses, I would like to read any of the creative wording that was justified to give those members of staff who received bonuses. Does anyone know where that can be obtained from public record? It ought to be hilarious reading the BS justification for them to get that money for doing their agreed upon job. Or should I say aGREED upon job.

I wont even waste my time typing anymore about the fraudulent stat game being propagated by management.
Mayor and Chief, you weaved this tangled web, now pay what we are due!!

What about the other A/C and the other Majors?

Why did they not receive bonuses?

09-08-2006, 05:47 PM
The admin Majors did not get a bonus and the other (new)majors where not majors when those bonus were given out.

That's all they're asking for? Doesn't give much room to negotiate when the city counters with a 3-3-3.

Has anyone heard what is going on with the proposed increased the PBa submitted to the city? I heard that City Counsel asked the Mayor to cut the budget by 13.1 mil. Is this going to affect our negotitations, or can we bank on the PBA's proposal?

I'm suprised no one has come to roll-calls asking for support for the contract.[/b]

The city council cut the budget by 3 mil, not 13.
PLEASE....use common sense when talking about the stats. I cannot figure it out why some officers will insist that the stats are all fraud, but then turn around and say "look, we made crime go down so give us a raise". Which is it....are the stats all fake, or did crime go down and we deserve a raise for it..........some postings on here are so ignorant it is amazing. Just pick a side, if the stats are all fake then stop saying we deserve a bonus and raise for the fall in crime.........i for one have seen crime in certain areas fall.....mall sig 21's down big time.......etc. I would like a raise and if the stat game is a big fraud so be it, if it helps me get a bonus and raise then it is what it is.......

Well, the PBA submitted this information to the city about 2 weeks ago. They originally stated the city would have to respond to the offer the week of the 11th... Has anyone heard anything :?:

Heard from someone on the contract committee that the city shot down everything and said that they want a three year shift bid.

They did, however, say that they want to give everyone an extra holiday (one that other city employees already get). Whoopie.
