I stopped at a traffic accident to assist check for injured and assist. A trooper in a marked car, passes within 300 feet, as he/ she is pulling out of a praking lot just south of the accident. He/She stops long enough to look and then continues on without stopping.

No LEO or EMS on scene. The citizens involved as well as myself were just a little miffed. Is this what we can expect from the best and the brightest?

I am sorry that happened to you. If I had been the Trooper, I would of stopped as it is part of my job. I can not answer as to whether the Trooper you witnessed was responding to another call or not. It appears that at the very least he/she would of stopped and informed you he had another call and he was sending other help to you. I hope everyone was ok and please do not let this incident cloud your judgement about our agency. If you feel this strongly about it though, I urge you to go to the local FHP Troop and speak to a supervisor about what happened.

To the guest that posted below the original post.......it is "officers" like you that perpetuate the negative image that this agency has. I thought the post was well written and grammatically correct, but had ONE word with a transposed letters. I guess when you have nothing intelligent to say or can not answer a question, your first response is to attack that person. If this actually is a post by a citizen, if this incident did actually happen, and if you are actually and officer then your response was very unprofessional and may cause this citizen to look at us in a different light. We should all work at improving community relations, after all that is the business we are in.

If it weren't for the loyalty to brother/sister LEO's I would have called the Troop Commander. I am a LEO but not in the same capacity as you. (As a matter of fact, you all probably don't even think of us as LEO) So yes I know the lingo. I was wearing my badge and gun but I was in a POV.

I was really embarrassed trying to explain to the involved people that a fellow state officer was shirking his/her responsibility and duty as the trooper was leaving. Luckily there weren't any injuries and traffic was getting by without my having to interfere.

Posting here I was hoping would get the attention of whomever it was. I also hope that others can learn a lesson. You never know who is watching.

I want to also state that I think (and surely hope) that this was an isolated incident.

As far as FHP goes I doubt it is an isolated incident. The trooper probably saw you and just kept going like they usually do. You should have called a supervisor and put that lazy trooper in his place.

When you are making fun of someone and their spelling, make sure yours is correct.

DOT calling FHP lazy?...Oh crap there's a semi with no taillights go get him!!! Don't worry...I'll work the dui you just asked a Trooper to come work for you.

DOT, what a slugfest that agency is. Dont see them responding to anything other than what FHP gives them. But when its pay raise time we are all the same. Im out with a DUI, need FHP to respond. What a joke.

Oh man! DOT is implying that all FHP troopers are fat! Just like any agency, some are...just like your agency! Anyway, I have gotten along with every single DOT officer I have ever come across. But for a DOT officer to call FHP lazy is insane! Answer me a question please...DOT really is the expert on CMV's, so when a CMV crashes, why don't you work the crash? Oh wait...FHP is lazy so we do it for you. Not to mention all the other S4's and S76's we do. By the way, DOT is on the interstates alot...but i rarely hear them call out a S76. Why? And I hear DOT on the radio in my area all day long until FHP is requesting a DOT officer for whatever reason...but then nobody pipes up.

It is always the same old crap. A trooper has a question about a truck, then we have to explain it 5 or 6 times that the sod truck driver does not need a medical card or a log book. After all of the explaining, the trooper still has that dazed and confused look on their face, and while I do find it amusing, it gets old after a while.

So what are you complaining about because I know thats probably the most that you do in a shift. I always thought DOT officers were retreads from Detroit till I realized that you can get out of your car from time to time and it wasnt built around you.

Who the hell are you to get on this web site and post something like that. How many of your officers are 10-8 on holidays, weekends and the midnight shift unless you are assigned to a Sig 15 somewhere. Do you respond to 911 calls as a primary unit or do you wait till the investigating agency request your assitance. Unless I rub elbows with you at the jail at 3 AM, which I dont, you dont have my respect. If you want it, earn it. Do something more than pawn crap onto another agency. DOT stands for:  Deferred to On-duty Trooper
