Jail recording leads to robbery arrest
Connie Hough accepted the suspect’s collect calls from the county jail, apparently unaware that jail calls are recorded by the Sheriff’s Office. The pair discussed how detectives had believed her fake story, and how she knew about the robbery all along. She now faces a robbery charge and is free on bail.Click here (http://www.heraldtribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060712/BREAKING01/60712023/-1/BLOG21) for the full story.

This case worked out nicely. After the robbery, we realistically didn't have enough PC to arrest her -- and if we would have arrested her (without a confession), the charges would have been dropped. So we let her go, but now we have a recorded confession from her recorded phone conversation with the other suspect. ;)

This is a clean case and the case is now closed. Good job to all involved. :)

Yes, great job by the detectives to do some followup and not just let it go with only his arrest. BUT!!! Bad move on the part of the media and PIO. Now every criminal in the area knows about the recorded phone calls.

Bad move on the part of the media and PIO. Now every criminal in the area knows about the recorded phone calls. If we could simply do away with the constitution of the United States --- or at least not let the public know what their rights are --- then we could convict soooooooo many more criminals!!!!! :)

Right????

My mom says that the theory behind the United States constitution is that it's better to let a criminal go then to lock-up an honest citizen.
