View Full Version : Sick and tired of being sick and tired

I for one have become sick of the paranoia that has become our agency. I am sick an tired of management by fear and intimidation. I guess we need to view our jobs like combat duty in order to be effective. Assume you are already dead and then there is no fear of dying. (Substitute FIRED/DISCIPLINED in place of death)

The paranoia created by the administration is ridiculous at best and poor management at worst.

Moral is at an alll time low. Very few are not looking for a way out. The best officers and supervisors I have seen have been broken. We arwe in shambles. All we here is it is going to get worse. Everytime I see light at the end of the tunnel it turns out to be another train.

I am willing at this point to vote for whomever is willing to promise a new management style and administration.

Good points.

The good supervisors who used to say it will pass do seem to be almost broken now with no changes appearing to be coming.

Actually a lot. I am a team player and I am very supportive of my coworkers and supervisors. Not only assisting with normal work or special projects but also on a personal level. I always had high moral until recently. If I could tell you the rest, you would agree.

What have you done???? The question actually should be what has management done??

I too, am getting a bit discouraged. My time with the DOC is short, to say the least. My job is important to me and I do it well, in spite of the "New Regime." Just hang in there and don't believe all you hear. GoDevil.

So what happened to your morale recently? Sounds like you and your office are doing great. Why the change? Was it because the Colonel came along?

People, just get out. This job is simply not worth it. I was in this position once. I took a job with the Feds and am so glad I did. The pay is better, retirement is less, but I have no BS to deal with. I"m sorry, but the Florida DOC is run by clowns.

Considering who is ultimately in charge of the Federal system that's a lot like the pot calling the kettle black isn't it?

It's all a matter of perspective. I work with 2 other specialists who are always stressing. We all have the same boss, report to the same office, have a nice rural area to supervise, and the same amount of asssignments. Yet, they are struggling.....always focusing on the negative. I honestly don't get it. I am in my position because I enjoy what I do. Why other people do a job and complain about it is beyond my comprehension. I think at least half of all the stress PO's feel is self induced. This job is a people job. If you aren't good at getting along with others it's not going to be easy, plain and simple.

Fed Probation the pay is a lot better ( more than most LEO's even with a lot of time ) and the retirement is a little less % wise but when you account for the pay difference it is actually a bigger retirement check also. You have to go out of state to get your first position usually because all the California Fed etc ones apply to Florida taking most of the positions here in Florida.
