Cross-over from correctional probation officer to law enforcement officer certificate
This cross-over program allows correctional probation officers to refocus their careers to law enforcement. The curriculum is not designed as a retraining program. Rather, it builds on your experience as a correctional probation officer by adding law enforcement knowledge and skills.
The correctional probation officer to law enforcement officer program focuses on:
Vehicle operation and traffic enforcement
Law enforcement patrol
Criminal investigations
Relationships with the community
Legal issues
Dealing with emergency situations
Defensive tactics and weapons
How does SCC's program help me make the transition from correctional probation officer to law enforcement officer?
SCC's Criminal Justice Academy is a state-certified training center. We have been preparing students for careers in law enforcement since 1969. Our success is due to:
Thorough selection process
Small class sizes that provide the opportunity for individualized training
Teaching traditional law enforcement with modern techniques and technology
Adherence to Florida state requirements and regulations
How do I earn the certificate?
Before you can enter the program, you must:
Successfully complete a Florida Corrections Basic Academy Program
Complete educational requirements for correctional probation officers or have worked a correctional probation officer
Once you have entered the program, you must complete the curriculum to earn the certificate.
Earning the certificate does not mean you are a Florida certified law enforcement officer. It means that you are eligible to take the FDLE exam for certification. You cannot be employed as a law enforcement officer in Florida unless you pass this exam.
