How many active cases were busted? From what I understand none! Sounds like we're doing what we are supposed to do. Why would be be involved? We couldn't arrest a private citizen even of we wanted too.

IF WE PROTECT THE CHILDREN FIRST AND WORRY ABOUT WHO DOES WHAT SECOND WE CAN NEVER GO WRONG. BY THE WAY? HOW ABOUT THE JUDGE THAT ET THE SEX OFFENDER AFTER THE DEPT. REPEATITLY RECOMMENDED AGAINST IT AND HE GOT CAUGHT UP IN THE POLK COUNTY STING..........YOUR JUDGES ON THE WEST COAST ARE NUTS O.

In my circuit, it used to be cc that showed up, but now that a lot of us are specialists, we still show up. As for wantabee's are us, I'm glad I don't work with you. I have good relationships with the LEOs in my county, as do several other probation officers. I go out on surveillances, searches and arress with them. Let me tell you, they don't think we are "wanna be" anything. The only LEOs who treated me like I was a joke are the same LEOs that their fellow LEOs thought were jerks anyway.

What part of the LEO application did you fail, want to be cop ?

Or is there some deep down reason you dont apply to be a cop when you will get paid more to do what you actually want to do.

You can let us in on your secret....

I have no secret and you are making a big assumption about me not doing what I want to do. Unlike the other whiners, if I hated my job that much, then I would look for something else to do. There are days that frustrate me beyond belief, but I have worked other jobs in my life, so I know that there aren't many jobs out there that don't have their moments. My point was that I guess I am lucky that I work with local police and sheriff's officers who appreciate the working relationship that we have- sorry you can't think outside the "box" of what a real LEO can be. 8)

I have no problem with Cops ( Most like PO's are good people ) It just appears you are not doing what you want to do, and I was wondering if you had applied to be a Cop ?

Then he should go if he wants to be a cop more than a PO

Don Monroe was the most innovated CPS3 that I have heard in years! He had his CC crew cutting up couches and doing real cc supervision years before PCI's (I don't mean the couch thing as a joke). I do not think that he thought he was a cop and I do not believe anyone who worked for him believed or wanted to be a cop. THYE WERE DOING THEIR JOB! Heck, most of his old crew is w/ US Prob. We know that they are not cops. I believe that No1important learned that you need to work w/ Leo's in her career and does so.

Yes, it sucks you have to go out of state first to get a federal PO job now. It is almost non existant to go from state PO to federal PO now in Florida due to other feds applying for the job.
My point is if someone enjoys doing usual COP duties more than usual PO duties and enjoys hanging more with Cops then they should do what they enjoy, and they will even make more money for it after a few years. I have always wondered if it was something mental stopping them from cross over ( I guess a psychologist would be best suited to answer that ).

Dear Guest,

There was a time in my life when I thought about a career as a COP, but after talking with family (SO, local, FHP and CPO), I decided that being a COP was not what I wanted to do. My background is psychology and I liked the mix of law enforcement with rehabilitation. Before you tell me to be a social worker, I was and I hated it, SO I LEFT! See, if I hated my job that much, I would have already left. Being a CPO does not have to be sitting behind a desk, unless that is what you want to do ( and there are plenty out there who do). I, on the other hand, enjoy working with LEOs and dealing with my caseload, which is exactly what I wanted to do. If your arguement is valid in that you think that I want to be a COP deep down inside because I enjoy hanging with LEOs, then perhaps the LEOs want to be a CPO deep down inside because they hang out with me. Just a thought- I look forward to your feedback and will be happy to answer any other questions/concerns about me you may have. :D

If you are a CPO and not CC or a specialist your job is 80% behind a desk whether you like it or not, unless you are running around and others are having to complete your work for you, which some are doing I might add. Also I am a CPS and dont sit behind my desk all the time, but I also don't go out acting like I am a cop instead of a PO leaving my work to be done by others. example - those emergency moves of CC cases and Thursday gains of cases that others end up having to pull your slack because you always play cop too much and have no hours left on Thursday or you were in the field the whole day Friday when you would have been better off seing them at their home after work instead of constantly getting contacts at their worksite, like you just want to show off your badge around your neck to play cop or something. If this is not you disregard, but this is the SOP of most who should just go and be a cop since that is how they act anyway.

I have been a CPO, a CC officer and a CPS- I rarely miss my o.d.( d.i.o. or whatever your circuit may call the day you're duty officer) day or my reporting. The only time I "gear up" is when I'm out on a PCI, otherwise, I look like "joe average" when I'm out in the field. I can count on 1 hand how many times I've used my handcuffs. I have always tried to keep my caseload in good shape, so no one would have to clean up my "mess". Because I am a specialist, I have to go out to their houses and I try to see them at home as often as possible and this includes my non-sop cases, as well. I appreciate that you told me to disregard your comments if they don't apply. The whole point to my original response was that there is nothing shameful in being a CPO, that you can find a balance in your job and that this job affords us the opportunity to work with other agencies and contribute. Sometimes I need to remind myself of this because I get caught up with all the negative talk- Now let's move on to something else!
