Venice to annex Caspersen Beach?

Venice city officials believe one of the biggest changes will be their law enforcement presence. Currently, Sarasota Sheriff's deputies have to drive through the city limits to patrol Caspersen Beach, while Venice city police officers are right down the road. A decision to proceed with annexation is expected by the end of the month.

Is it time for the City of Venice to also annex the streets that are in the city limits -- and not just the houses? The home owners must pay taxes, but the streets don't.

Hey numnuts Venice annexed in every enclave inside the city a couple of years ago. They tried to annex Caspersons then and make it one big package deal, but the county said no. I for one am happy since we don't have to make the haul out there anymore.

When the City of Venice annexed the enclaves, they did not annex all the roadways inside the city limits -- they only annexed the tax paying homes. ;)
