If they are a private person? Yes

If they are a government agency? No

People managing social media for government entities need to tread carefully. You could be sued and held liable. If this is occurring please contact your local ACLU with evidence to proceed

They can't do anything when it comes to freedom of speech. Miami is just full of crybabies if you really wanna know!

If your a employee of the department and make a comment, in uniform or any others identified MPD logo, badge, you'll get nailed. The department likes to control information going out.

This conversation went over your head. This is in regards to city social media and how they can’t censor their comment section per law

Don't use any department issue equipment to post. Also the catch all, for the department, is you will not bring embarrassment to the city or department. Trust me if your post causes embarrassment and they can I.D. you from it. They will try to make a example of you.

The chief has a daily goal of embarrassing the department. Anything happening to him?

No you can’t delete messages on a City of Miami official social media site per state statute. Just becyyoh do like the negative comments on the post. However as long as the language is not derogatory ( profanity, racist etc). The site and the employees are being paid by taxpayers are subject to retention and delete per state statute. The Union need to send a cease and desist to the mayor and city manager. They have a case if they have screen shots/copies to prove their case. BSO union file on the current criminal/ thug sheriff. Private companies can do what they want. Government agencies have restrictions. You post on social media take the bad with. You can’t sensor the voice of the community with only good comments
