Department wants 2 officers to all calls. The specialty units better come back to patrol then. Wow. How does a 10 officer squad without any time off go 2 to a call???? Specialty units have a lot of low productivity for hours worked. Every patrol squad should be 20 officers. With body cameras coming it will only be worse. No T8 calls anymore. Every call will have to be worked to end to include all drunks. Patrol will have to work drunks. Imagine how long it will take patrol to work a drunk and spend 2 hours at CBT and booking. Good luck with 10 officers. New deployment needs to be implemented ASAP.

Do we need 30 officers in VCB and TNT. Nope first ones that should take a hit.

TRT, Dive Team, and EOD members tend to be immune, or have less actions taken against them, vs the patrol officer. Lets just call it 'Specialty Team Privilege'.

I remember a team members girlfriend tried on a bunch of Princess Diana in dresses and she did not get in trouble. Granted, later her involvement with the Specialty Team members ended in a disaster.

Specialty team Shootout in District 2.

Specialty teams are a boys club, fast track to promotion.

And while the rest of us work traffic posts or the parade routs they sit in their Specialty Team vehicles watching Netflix on 'high alert' for anything to happen.

So, don't hold your breath for those with 'Specialty Team Privilege' to turn in those papers!

The hand writing is on the wall. TPD is done. Get out while you can. These retirements will only force officers to shoulder more calls with a ridiculous deployment. 10 officer squads is not sustainable before this and it definitely is not sustainable with BWC coming. Expect a new deployment soon. Hiring will only get worse and vacancies will be hard to fill with good cops. All the warnings signs are there. GET OUT.

I would normally say to this, stop whining about it and get to work. But we have reached a point where, as a police department, we can no longer do our job. Police are being fired and/or arrested for doing the right thing, being respectful, following the rules, and they still are sacrificed to the mob mentality.

Nowadays the BWC are being used more for evidence against us than for justification for us doing our jobs. The Rayshard Brooks shooting in GA was vastly different than the George Floyd’s murder. Yet the masses (Mayor and City Counsel) demanded the officer be fired with out any deliberation even with the BWC video.

This department always has a new deployment which is usually a re-boot / re-branding of some old deployment. Well, you can't increase squad size without new officers and if you can retire why would you want to stay?

For those complaining about specialty units... you sound jealous. Go ahead and apply to one then.

Fear not, Bennett will protect you!

I did try and did not make it. All I can do now is post here.

But as a show of solidarity with your fellow officers and lack of trust in the department and city leadership you could all quit like the TRT team in Hallandale Beach.

But that will not happen. The benefits of Specialty Team Privilege out weigh your solidarity with the street officer.

Firefighters and EMTs are respected and loved by the community. Plus they get to nap, workout and have cookouts when they are not on a call. LOL

So very true!

Also they have standards. TPD could care less if a squad has 4 people on duty or 12. Look at Tampa's last RNC deployment. Fire Departments have minimum staffing requirements for the safety of their crews.

Not enough crew to run and engine or ALS unit they will move people around or call people in for OT.

TPD, oh well, suck it up.
