Can someone explain what exactly is a staff officer is? Higher rank or pay than a deputy or ???

Yes a staff officer makes about 1000 more a year than a starting deputy. Basically a staff officer is an exempt deputy. This is done to facilitate adjusting hours to accommodate meetings, crime trends or public presentations. As you know sometimes gated communities have meetings at night and there are frequent public demonstrations and fund raising, which would generate overtime if someone had to stick to normal hours, without the ability to adjust. It is designed as a cost saving measure.

You almost sound like you believe your own bullshit! They are a chosen few who do whatever the command staff ask with no questions of Wright or Wtong! Most of them kiss the ring, but some realized when they were put there that it was time to get out because of questionable stuff! Waste of money and personal!

This makes sense. Fiscal responsibility on command staffs part.
