Polk county as a whole does not require a chief of police to live within the city limits. Wishful thinking on your part. There are multiple different chiefs within the county That do not live within their respective city limits.

Everyone will just keep walking out until the citizens wake up and want to know why the employees are literally walking out weekly because of bullying, threats and favoritism to employees for the past several years. BPD is spiraling out of control quickly and they just hide in their offices, take their breaks because none of the rules apply to them and they can come and go as they please without answering to anyone because they have so many personal issues to deal with on the city’s time.

People have been noticing a supervisor leaving early every week if she even comes in at all knowing she has no times on the books. She hasn’t worked a full week in months. But she’s buddies with the new Captain and does as she pleases while the Captain and DC look the other way. Just depends who you around there as to what you can get away with on city time. Does she not realize everyone knows about the big D word? Put on your big girl pants and deal with it.

Cv has worked numerous cases along with obtaining several convictions in Polk. For a young officer he has always been pro active and has passion for law enforcement. I have worked with him since he was an explorer and can not say enough about how dedicated he is to BPD. Anyone who puts anything negative on here about him is just envious and wishes they had his drive and knowledge. I could go on and on but enough said. Very proud of him and it is our loss with him leaving. I dont blam him a bit for wanting to work for another agency.

Why is it the toxic nature of this agency to frown upon, desecrate, and diminish the aspirations of another person? If CV wants to move on, good for him and good luck. This agency is so dang toxic. Why can’t we, as brothers/sisters behind the badge, encourage one and other to reach for the stars and do what each of us desire to do? If CV wants to go to LPD, I wish him well, Godspeed and stay safe. As our future in any aspect of life is unknown maybe our paths will cross in the future and I’ll have a friend and former co-worker I can reach out to. We, as brothers and sisters behind the badge, in this current environment, should be building bridges, encouraging one and other. We’re all in this together

Your wrong my friend just a few years back we had fun. Briefings were a blast, especially with Sergeant Odell and Realls shift. Everyone had each others back even the DC when he was a Corporal. Everyone always helped each other out on all scenes and paperwork . There were a few shift who had some negative folks but very few. Officers would support each other and raise money with barbeques to help sick officers with expenses as we were family.

Yes you’re right but those great people were ran off because of the bad changes that were coming and the big heads that came with the new titles. They separated our department as a family made threats if we crossed those lines. Some get away with it if you’re a favorite of certain supervisors others do not.. more great brothers and sisters have quit because of it and more are on their way until something is done. It’s only hurting the department as a whole

I do not like to slam anyone but you are right. The big heads changed the place and divisions of people. One in particular has always down people and bullied them. That person has a bad mentality and continues to sabotage. You can never change a person and have to leave or join the group. It sucks but one thing I know is it always catches up to the bully in the end. May not be this year or next but eventually it bites them.

More are leaving soon just waiting for start dates. It’s a weekly thing anymore. I heard a dispatcher is leaving maybe more. Bpd is bad to work for. Pay is low, moral is at its lowest and they don’t care about the employees. What’s ok for some isn’t ok for others. Nobody is paying attention to the ones that leave early without taking lunch instead. That’s never been allowed but AGAIN it’s allowed for some but not others. They think nobody notices but haha more people are watching more than you realize. When the citizens and GL realize there’s only 3 officers on duty a shift to cover the whole city and officers are leaving left and right and everyone is wondering why in these current times of the danger they face everyday alone. It’s not rocket science people

I do believe GL went with the ADP system due to employees pulling this stuff mentioned above. If you are seeing this just send an annonomous letter to your elected officials. Many have been charged for theft in the past for stealing tax payers money. Government employees have standards and rules. They can not make there own. Where is the integrity!!!

That’s a good question, why don’t you ask the city admin during the next meeting. The officers that work for Bartow are asking the same question because they want a change to. Nobody wants BD as chief.

So is true that One of your female resource officer showed up to roll call after drinking a glass of wine and was told by JM not to get into anything in case they had to do a urine test. If so why didn’t anyone from his squad say anything to admin about it.

Maybe admin should look into it before JM is promoted and that certain officer hurts someone because she’s been drinking before shift.

The city of Bartow needs to hire a new chief. They need to advertise this position in several outlets other than local papers or the city web site. There are only 3 people of color out of 40 employees at the department. Instead of using employees for oral boards we need to use professional outside recruitment firms. This city has a large amount of POC and we need to add diversity and opportunity for this in our hiring process. Why, because the citizens deserve this and it will help with unification of our citizens. Kids in our community need to see our agency represents people of all colors. They meed role models and people who look like them for a better way of buolding trust. As it stands they do not see this. Yes I have heard we dont pay enough to bring applicants or other lame excuses like this. So raise the pay city officials and lets get into the new century which our young people expect and deserve. Remember to build a community and bring in business people of all colors need to feel they are a part of the growth. I'm sure I will get negative comments and this is expected but remeber this. Within the past two years we have had negative and controversial issues. With these issues we have failed by allowing it to continue like a cancer. There are solutions but it appears no one in the right positions want to step up and demand change. God bless all of you officers.

Well to explain we have a Interim Chief who has only been an administrotor a couple of years. He is a good person but has a little bit of "I'm smarter than you" attitude. The Captain who is second in command and just promoted from her Sergeant position where she spent 2 years as a supervisor. So do the math your self on this. What the agency needs is a Chief with years of administration and investigation experience. Problem is the city manager in my opinion is trying to save money by not hiring a qualified chief and the officers are very underpaid.

No problem with what you wrote, if Im a qualified person of color and have choice of working at an agency paying really low wages OR I have a choice of going to a well paid agency Im going to get paid. We definitely need new role models in EVERY department. I think WS is the only true role model we have. He speaks to you everyday no matter who you are and is positive unlike other supervisors that ignore you like you’re not even there. Definitely time for a complete overhaul

We have several good supervisors but it sounds like your disgruntal. I have a good idea of who you are and you are the problem. You have caused conflict with every section you have worked in. I was told the Sheriff require his deputies live in the county where they serve. This only makes since so officers are not just collecting a pay check but take a more personal role in protecting and interacting with the community they serve. Hopefully our commissioners will see this and agree.

It’s obvious you haven’t been around the department much because we have several officers of color, in less you are calling Hispanics white. We have white, Hispanic, black, straight, and gay employees. So what I’m assuming is you want more blacks, sounds a little raciest to me. Well we have had several black employees but they either leave for better pay or get arrested for messing around with a 15 year old. I’m good with a black, white, or Hispanic chief male or female as longs as they are fair and look out for their people who do the right thing.

So a commissioner is have a town hall meeting this month with the Sheriff as the guest speaker. No mention of Bartow Police. To my knowledge this has never happen before. What a lack of respect for our department or is it the commissioners have no confidence in our higher brass? I hate to say it but I see green in the future. What happen to the good community relationships Hall had with the community. Looks like it is gone. Guess he was not as bad as people made him out to be.

She has caused conflict and attacked officers characters to only cover up her own faults and deficiencies. She is Truly a snake who will strike only to make herself look victimized. The department heads have ignored and allowed this behavior for years. If they would have acted on issues brought to thier attention she would have been terminated years ago. It is time to stop ignoring issues and take the appropriate action as directed in the SOP you preach we all must follow. With actions come consequences and it is time she is held accountable. Seems like this department cannot and will not improve if you all don't take the step to improve yourselves. You are ridiculous with these comments. Bashing each other and criticizing each other. Whatever happened to being prideful and having each other's backs. To be honest, the public isn't going to have your back. Should really start to think, who you want in your corner. Chauvin got 20+ years for his actions. Police aren't exactly seen as angels anymore. Get it together, pull together, tighten up, respect each other, do a good job, and improve this department. Oh, and feel free to comment negatively on everything I say. What more should anyone expect based on previous comments. What did you even get into law enforcement for anyways? Can I get some S35 from anyone in here or is this just a forum for complainers.

I have a feeling you are new to the agency. Let's just say you will find out in time who you work with. I myself do not or have ever lived in Bartow. There are good people there but they are very let's say, set in the past. Your words of wisdom sound great and all peachy. Until the toxic superiors are removed from their positions nothing will change. May be you can put in for Chief and do just that. Bartow needs a tune up.

One in particular needs to stop with hanging out and trying to be one of the gang. Act like a real administrator not a teenager. You really need to grow up and take some admin classes along with how to be a professional. I have never seen a person talk so negatively about people who work for them and then act like they care so much for you. Please, so many of us see right through you. It will catch up to you eventually. People like you talk to much and don't even realize the things you say can be career ending statements. I have noted these things out of your mouth just fyi.

BRAVO!!!! You have said exactly what most of us have been saying and thinking. But there are TWO that need to stop hanging out, partying, being so immature and negative talking crap about other employees and getting them to do their dirty work. We all see what they are doing and we too have been taking notes and lots of them. These so called “supervisors” do need to grow up take management and anger management classes and learn how to function If they want to stay in their current position or get out and let someone else do the job right because it’s not going unnoticed anymore. And you know who you are.

There is a lot more than 2 officers fed up with crap going on at this agency. Funny thing is I just sit back and stay quiet while most of you tell what is going on. What a shiz show.
