Firearms instructor course
Can anyone give some insight on the firearms instructor course? I heard it’s the academy style qualification but heard two different things that is 85% and 90% any idea which one

Also is it more classroom oriented or all on the range, and more tactical or just how to run a safe range

Do our training guys teach since it’s our range or is it academy folk?

Thanks

It’s at our range but it’s academy staff that teach it. First day is a qualification course first thing, with it being the FDLE basic recruit 48 round course with an 85% pass rate. You need either 2 back to back qualifying scores or 3 out of 6. If you don’t do that on the first day you’re removed from the course. After that it’s basically all classroom and liability with some time out on the range calling a line and course of fire and on proper instruction. Generally it’s scheduled around a basic recruit class that’s out there so you can also get some hands on training for instruction on shooting techniques.

How often do people not make it past the first day?

If you are worried about passing a basic firearms qualification course with anything less than a 90% then you should not be carrying a gun much less teaching the class.
