Carmine Marceno now is currently under active investigation by FDLE and Florida Ethics Commission and is accused of falsified applications with various law enforcement agency, unprofessional conduct with a female crime victim, and failure to meet CJSTC standards of mandated employment training as it relates to the EOT in Florida. By selecting Marcino to receive an award of Executive Chief Officer of the year only diminishes and contaminates the very By-Laws of SFPCA. These members have lowered the standards of professional conduct of a Law Enforcement Officer when they should be standing for better leadership. The law enforcement community is going to lose the support and respect of this community should they continue in this direction.

If current Lee County Commissioner Cecil Pendegrass is actively pushing for Carmine Marceno's job, then he knows Carmine Marceno will be REMOVED from office. Marceno does not deny his illegal and unethical activities, refusing to comment to any of the three, repeat three, investigative reports by FOX 4. Marceno refused to respond to any of the News-Press reports, including the ethical complaint filed by former Sheriff Shoap. Marceno refused to respond to any inquiries by the Washington Standard, which wrote about 10-12 articles regarding Marceno's corruption.

There is no longer just smoke regarding Marceno's scandals, now there is fire. Governor DeSantis will remove him from office. The great embarrassment of Lee County will not be our Sheriff in 2020.

Marceno falsified documents to become a Deputy (twice), raised a lot of campaign cash, never really did anything substantive in law enforcement, then the corrupt political machine of Lee County got him APPOINTED him Sheriff.

Cecil Pedegrass lobbied to have Marceno appointed Sheriff. Now Cecil lobbies to have himself appointed when the Governor removes Marceno from office. Cecil refuses to run for Sheriff, wants to get appointed when his buddy Carmine Marceno is removed for unethical and illegal conduct.

Jim Leavens takes a lot of criticism from the corrupt Lee County Machine. However, Leavens attended a Law Enforcement Academy, served in leadership positions as a Deputy, made arrests, managed deputies, and investigated crimes. This is something neither Cecil, and especially not Marceno, ever did as a cop/deputy. Leavens is running for office based upon his experience and not looking to get appointed through a backroom deal, or kissing up to the corrupt good old boys of Fort Myers.
