You say you are not a politician and are new to politics but you are a pathetic leader at best. Unless there is a complete all hands on emergency, nothing should take precedent over a Deputies funeral. Lois Scholtz May not have died in the “line of duty” but he was still an active employee.
What was your excuse for showing up late today? To busy handing out turkeys? Absolutely pathetic to show up late to a funeral as Sheriff of Broward and then leave early when you were told that you would NOT be speaking. After what you did with Nimitz, “I said good morning “ Deputies have told family members to never allow you to speak at their funeral if something were ever to happen.
