Unless SI does some kind of hail Mary against others he took the blame for, he'll continue to be unemployed wallowing alone in martyrdom.

With regard to the election, the logic of who is or isn't to blame will never be resolved in the minds of voters before the election. History will tell that story, but not on time. Had this turmoil taken place in 2016 with four years ahead, it would be a different picture. It would be a mistake to keep "explaining. " Its infuriating moderate Democratic voters and turning them away. That campaign needs to think strategically, and recognize that a personal attack on a black candidate on any front will backfire. If Israel wants to get traction he needs to find something that he and moderate D voters agree on, and the unfairness of his removal is NOT the issue that will work. Democrats see that there are other democratic candidates on deck. As long as Israel wasn't replaced with a Trumpster-like figure, voters may not like it but won't protest. Counting on the large church congregations in 2012 was a winning strategy with a white republican incumbent. It's not going to work in 2020. A large number of church voters will "pray on it" and choose Tony or Pollack.

Two things, here.

First you assume that people will not listen to the truth about the MSDHS shooting even though the Sun Sentinel pretty much did an 180 and printed several articles debunking the notion that Israel was responsible for that tragedy. Remember, like it or not the votes of half a million people were nullified by an action of a Republican governor for wholly political reasons. That can generate a lot of sympathy. And, the anti-Israel forces know this.

The second thing is that assumption the bulk of the residents of Broward County were not satisfied with Israel's performance during his tenure. There is no evidence that this is the case. The re-elected him in 2016 with a 2:1 margin. His only real baggage is the bogus charges that he was responsible for the MSDHS shooting.

While it is certainly possible that Israel will not be elected in 2020, there is still a very good chance that he will be, if he plays his cards right. He can not rely upon the Democrat machine, but will have to go directly to the voters.
