"Despite a 9% reduced crime rate statewide, Florida in 2018 saw an uptick in murders and rapes, according to statistics released Monday.

According to the report, violent crimes were down 4.2% throughout the state while property crimes fell 7.9%. Burglaries and robberies were the crimes that saw the biggest reductions statewide, 19.1% and 9.3% respectively.

The state had 502 more rapes and 50 more murders in 2018 than in 2017, which largely held true in the South Florida counties of Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade.

The fall in the state’s crime rate is inline with a 48-year trend of fewer robberies, aggravated assaults, burglaries, larcenies and car thefts, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s annual crime report".

This article did not mention Line of Duty deaths were higher in 2018.. So..

With most (if not all) law enforcement departments reporting they are short staffed at critical levels how true is this new report? I don't see it but perhaps it is just the county I reside in. How easy is it to manipulate the numbers for the stats....??

When it comes to stats, it can work anyway you want it to. Whatever it takes to look better
