Sorry boys, they're not going to change Florida Statute for a small handful of disgruntled members. If leadership is so bad, go elsewhere so someone with the right attitude can take your place. There's a long list of folks ready to do so skippy!

"Change Florida Statute" What are you talking about?

FDLE Commissioner is a CABINET appointment, not a governor one. See Article IV, Section IV of the Florida Constitution.
Takes four to tangle pal.

So Constitution Man, are you saying that means Swearingen has a lifetime appointment?

Not at all sir. It would take the full cabinet for removal, three "R's" and one "D'.

Governor can appoint folks like Division of Emergency Management Director and others, but not FDLE Commissioner and other CABINET Appointments.

So there are a few more steps needed to show him the door. Where there's a will, there's a way.

None of which will happen to appease a small group of malcontents. RS isn't the issue, unfortunately it is you. Sorry!

How many years has the lifelong bureaucrat worked for the state, 40, 50 years? Sounds like the J. Edgar Hoover Plan.

How many times has RS written letters to press and even Cabinet bosses to defend himself? I've lost count. Not typical behavior for a commissioner who is doing a good job.

Name three examples.

In fact, let's make it easier for you. One will be in response to Pam Bondi's attempt to get press from the incident in Broward. The Commissioner responded in kind detailing what steps had taken place.

Now you - two more?

Such a snarky comment about Pam Bondi who was one of your Cabinet bosses at the time.

At the beginning of every year, upper level command (Commissionerand both Assistant Commissioners) are asked to submit a letter of resignation. The governor then has the option to accept or reject the letters. If the letters are rejected, the current command staff remains in place. If the letters are accepted, the governor ( incumbent or newly elected) can appoint a new commissioner who must be confirmed by the senate. That’s how former Commissioner Bailey lost his position.

Bailey knew how to run an Agency as a true leader and knew that individuals were valued in the organization no matter what. He did not feed egos, jump into ruining lives of employees (and their families) because of petty B.S., and held strong on integrity which is why some didn't like him. Unlike R.S., Bailey had earned the position due to qualifications and not being a friend of someone in power.

But this really isn't about justifying Bailey as much as it is doing the right thing now that the Gov that gave the appointment without an application process is out and so should those that got positions that shouldn't have.

Bailey F-ed over so many folks and listen to losers like Madden, Perez, and others to kill off the rank and file....I am no fan of RS, but come on....EI under both leadership goes into all I/A's with the accused either being liked by the command or not. This determines the outcome. If you are liked, they limit the scope to only the complaint and sweep it under the rug (Brutnel)....If you are not in the inner circle, its a fishing expedition where anything and everything is fair game.

Hmmmm are you overlooking the mass of FDLE Supervisors and above that have been disciplined for mistreatment of employees? Would you like a snaky cake? All under R.S. And if you are really paying attention, this is only the ones they HAD TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT or didn't like... there are so many more examples of mistreatment and targeting that it's beyond alarming and so many more that R.S. just let happen or ignored. He has disrespected PBA and nerfed them beyond having a representative voice so he could run over people. Not even Bailey did that.

What about minority promotions and treatment? And who has R.S. promoted? The difference between Madden and R.S.'s promotions is at least Madden was an ass to your face and didn't hide behind closed doors to mistreat.

Regardless of the agency, the benefit of bringing in someone from the outside is that there are no long term relationships to benefit or work to the detriment of legacy employees. Everyone has a clean slate.

Your are partially correct.....EI/Command goes into I/A investigations with a presumption of guilt and a course for crisis control. Look at all the past investigations and how long it took to remedy......

When R.S. took the helm it was all about revenge for those he wanted to put in their place... just like an immature, unworthy leader would do. Couple that with also wanting to gain the respect of the supervisors, SAC's, ASAC's, and the like he just went along with whatever they wanted to do, so those people could also run over anyone they wanted and he'd just sit back and let them... dissing PBA and just sitting back and feeling good about his ridiculous appointment by his buddy Rick Scott.

If you look at how he's promoted people and ran things and treated personnel it doesn't take long to realize he is/was the worse leader FDLE has ever had.

The current commissioner is a man named Rick.
He was Governor Scott's one and only pick.
Not the most qualified and Scott didn't care.
His trusty bodyguard had always been there.
They traveled together even after Rick's promotion,
As head of Capitol Police, it caused a big commotion.
Trips to Paris, Japan and California to see Auburn play.
International travel is "hard work" people, not a soiree!
Rick's predecessor got fired by Governor Scott.
Jerry Bailey was well respected, in case you forgot.
Press said Swearingen was Governor Scott's boy,
So Rick tried explaining, which was not a good ploy.
Rick claimed he was shocked his mentor was fired,
Yet it didn't smell right when Swearingen was hired.
Did Bailey resist political interference, but to no avail?
Read on here he nixed new cars for Governor's detail.
Now there's a new Governor who doesn't have to keep him.
But Rick's minions are defensive saying chances are slim,
Exclaiming what about the Cabinet, can't do it without them!
Remember the snarky letter to his Cabinet boss Bondi?
As Attorney General, her service is remembered fondly.
His "politically savvy" letter shows he's not fit to lead.
Maybe he thinks he's entitled and will not concede.
Poster says they're political and law enforcement is easy.
Seems the thought of losing power is making them queasy.
Face it, a commissioner is not appointed for life.
Please transition quietly, who needs the strife.
