What qualifies Gillum to lead the State of Florida? A Tallahassee commissioner and now a ceremonial mayor, with not executive authority, experience and functions. As much as I detest Carlos Gimenez, at least he was Miami's city manager, responsible for managing the city's budget and departments' operations and as Miami-Dade's strong mayor, presiding over a 7-billion dollar budget, its allocation and departmental management.

Gillum is the prototypical socialist=democrat, promising the world to gullible constituents, with no regard to cost and funding source, except to raise taxes. In Florida's case, that will be very difficult to do with an overwhelming Republican Legislature and Senate who will thwart each and every socialist's harebrained idea Gillum will proffer. Sadly, our State will cease to prosper while the political tug-of-war rages, as nothing will get done. For our fellow Floridians' sake, I hope Gillum is rejected, if by a small margin. Should Gillum managed to ink out a razor-thin victory, we who oppose him may still find solace when the FBI "Perp Walks" him out of the governor's mansion. The fact is, FBI's Public Integrity Agents are not in the habit of giving politicos NOT under investigation, $1,000.00 "Hamilton" tickets or paying for a lavish trip to Costa Rica. Such venal acceptance violate FSS 838.016 Unlawful compensation or reward for official behavior. Since the FBI is running the public corruption investigation, such corrupt taking violates 18 U.S. Code § 201 - Bribery of public officials and witnesses. In sum, there is little or not difference between Gillum taking such bribes from under cover FBI Agents and the bribes taken by the three City of Miami police officers recently arrested by the FBI.

God willing. It’s about time we get a governor that will actually increase funding for state government. Maybe someone who will allow the FHP to be the solid law enforcement organization that it once was.
