Not true. Union entirely folded when they realized they had messed up their paperwork and had entirely forgotten to ask for the COLA (any COLA!!). And it turned out the longevity was outside the reopener so IUPA cannot even ask for it. Pretty embarrassing. Say what you want about Marciano and FOPE (or even PBA) ... but they wouldn't have messed up that badly. IUPA begged for the Sheriff to just let it go the County Commission for a final hearing. After all this time wasted, the money wasted on the accountant, we are going to get the same 3% (2.5 +0.5) they offered from the start, and not a penny more. Sad. Very sad.

Chances are us only getting the 3% is because the only thing was the cola for year 3, we will only get the 3% retro from Oct 1st and the longevity will be fought for in this new contract next month.

Like everyone else, I want the extra 2% raise after 20 years. However, if the County decides not to give it to us, then I am also OK with the 3%. Really, because Jeff Bell released an official statement on behalf of the union regarding the facts of the meeting. If management's recollection of events differs from the unions official statement, I'm pretty sure they can put out their own official statement to the staff. I mean its not like BSO doesn't have a whole media relations team who's entire job it is to release official statements.
