As of late today, it looks as if sheriff Mike Adkinson is going to finally earn his salary and have to deal with a swift blow from the state legislature as it pertains to "customary use" of the Walton County Beaches.

Mike did a great job putting up a front and creating a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), that by his own deputies admissions, was created to "not be enforceable". Some Private Property Owners spent thousands of dollars to be in compliance, obtaining surveys and setting GPS cords, yet received no service, only excuses.

Ironically, the Walton County BCC, at that same time, pushed for "customary use" and essentially "took" peoples private property. Thus, giving the chosen one the ability to selectively enforce private property rights with the beach front property. (see article)

Some of the beach front owners finally caught on to this and fought it, spending thousands, possibly millions of dollars. Now a bill has passed the House, passed the Senate and is slated for final approval.

This will ultimately take away any and all excuses sheriff Mike Adkinson has had to NOT enforce Private Property Rights and will force him to once, finally, take a stand to do what the people of Walton County want him to do. Enforce State Law and Local County Ordinances (Parking, Noise, etc.). Why can't a guy slated to head FDLE do this?

Many of the influential voters have started to realize the sham that was perpetrated by the Adkinson Administration and how this has negatively effected private property owners.

It will be interesting to see how the Spin Doctor himself, attempts to "spin" this as he so eloquently did in a recent local news article. (see below)

sheriff Mike Adkinson does not represent the private property owner, he reps the developers, looking to make a quick $$$ by destroying the area and over development.

http://www.nwfdailynews.com/news/20180303/walton-customary-use-ordinance-appears-safe-for-now

Catching Perverts, Thugs and other obvious Criminals is something any law enforcement professional can do with the proper authority and budget, its not that hard.

Enforcing Local and State Law that effects your voting base, political donations and your elected and possible future job security is another story completely.

Let's see how he'll do...

For the betterment of our County, I hope he does step up and put his political aspirations aside and do what he was elected to do.

Time will tell.

Doesn't Huckabee own beach front property in Walton County?

The Sheriff had an SOP that told beach front property owners what to do to enforce their private property rights.

Apparently that went to $H)# and no one has any right in this County any longer.

Thank you Gov Huckabee for standing up to this nonsense and fighting for Private Property Rights!

Oh boy, what is sheriff Mike gonna do?

His SOP failed, as admitted by some of his deputies, it was intended to do!

Now, Gov. Scott has signed into law, HB 631 and that makes it Walton Counties job to prove said use of the beach.

Come July 1st, 2018, sheriff Mike will have to be prepared to Enforce State Law and County Ordinance as it relates to Private Property Owners rights. So far he has FAILED.

He really needs to step up and do his job if he thinks he's going to be head of FDLE, should Putnam get elected.

Vote NO for Putnam, Vote NO for anything attached to Adkinson.

You are very, very correct.

Problem is EVERYONE is too frightened to do anything about it.

As the Rolling Stones said; "Under my Thumb..."

Rock on Walton, Rock on.

July 1st is time to enforce private property rights once again in Walton County.

We'll see how that goes...

Well, Sheriff Mike uttered some very profound words on his social media platform addressing the upcoming July 1st, End of Customary Use.

He told those viewing that it is not alright to shoot tourists that are on private beach property...

Wow...

Clayton, come on...

That's Mikey's uncle, the big attorney in DFS.

While Customary Use enforcement will be an issue in Walton County, Mikey is hardly concerned as he already has a thousand excuses for the non-enforcement that will come.

Private Property is just that Private. I believe there are State Statutes that protect that, are there not?

Mikey is already doing the Walton County Two Step.

He's already blaming the "Accuracy" of GPS devices and giving away two to three feet of private property, right off the bat.

Additionally, he recommends security guards wear body cameras, yet doesn't require his officers to do so...

Its amazing that Mike Adkinson has actually ordered his sworn deputies to NOT effect arrest when a trespass occurs. This is even in the deputies presence.

The beach issue is a hot topic, but the letter of the law if fairly simple unless you are Adkinson kissing butt and telling your sworn deputies to not enforce a state law...

Sad.

Adkinson actually has his Investigators spending time taking actual case reports on Social Media issues with the #1 Beach Taker, Dave Richie Rich Roskoulb... What a waste of tax money.

How about you enforce some traffic laws around here Mike??? How many more wrecks need to happen on Hwy 98?

Last I checked, Investigators are not patrol deputies. 99.99999% of traffic enforcement is ran by patrol deputies under a Sheriff's Office. Police in general can't change peoples bad driving habits... It is ultimately up to the driver to drive properly and safely.....

Ex-Gov. Mike Huckabee has filed a Bar Complaint against a local activist attorney that knowingly and willingly trespassed on private property, with NO action taken by Mike Adkinson.

Adkinson's lack of enforcement, even when his own agency has an SOP, is appalling and it is going to be interesting to see how and more specifically, where, this issue plays out as the big $$$ donors are not happy.

Spring Break 2020 is just around the corner and WCSO needs to get their stuff together.

One of the main issues in this community involving the beach is ENFORCEMENT.

Mike Adkinson has FAILED at that. He has more excuses for this than Carter has liver pills.

Let's not forget Mike Adkinson's SOP.

You mean like the following?:

1. No taxes are paid on beach front properties

2. Public Property became Private Property due to HB 631

3. Quiet Title made Public Beach Property Private Property

4. Walton County Residents have had unlimited use of Private Property from the dune line to the water line against the will of the Private Property Owner for the last 100 years

5. Since Sherriff Atkinson announced he would not arrest trespassers, that makes it legal to trespass on Private Property in Walton County

6. Repealing HB 631 will eliminate every CU lawsuit, or the requirement for the BCC to use Due Process to take full and immediate control over Private Property in Walton County against the will of the Property Owner.

7. It is badgering to ask questions supported by CU advocates that are contradictory to Florida law or information posted on the Walton County web site

8. If CU does not pass then Residents and Tourists will not be allowed to walk the 26 miles of beach in Walton County, nor will they be allowed to swim, fish, surf, or build sand castles.

9. The beach crowding problem is caused by greedy beachfront homeowners and not the successful promotional efforts to increase tourists from 1 million per year to 4 million per years in the last decade

10. And extra bonus statement, asking questions or pointing out CU myths make a person a "drama queen"

This is an interesting statement in theory, it is correct. Wonder how all the folks living on the Bay and surrounding the numerous lakes up North will feel when Tourism and Trespassers come to their "back yards"?

There are multiple docks on the northside of the bay, many near Nick's Restaurant. Do people in Freeport think those are private?

"Gov. Ron DeSantis said Thursday that he is urging local governments and private entities to "strongly consider limiting or postponing mass gatherings." A number of states have instituted outright bans on such gatherings."

If mass gatherings should be prevented to help prevent the spread the coronavirus when is spring break and summer break gatherings and travel by non residents coming into our area only for vacation going to shut down? Now that all the parks are closed/closing, the only place left for all the vacationers traveling to Florida and our area to go is the beaches.

No Social Distancing Enforcement, things are as crazy as they have been in the past years.

Where did all these peeps come from? Good gosh, LA, GA, MS, IL, IN, CA, etc.???

What about the enforcement of the Rental Ban being lifted, WHO, who enforces that?
