View Full Version : Eye on Retirement

Against All Odds

Police Officers spend a lifetime in service to their community with a decent wage but nothing extravagant. In many municipalities college degrees are a normal occurrence today in order to get promoted. Supervising and managing multiple people with a college education in the corporate world would come with high pay, stock options, possibly a corner office. Police Officers and more importantly their families exchange those niceties for a decent wage, a pension that is promised as part of the deal and hopefully a few years of retirement. The job of policing is dangerous as the community of Doral is well aware of with the recent tragedies throughout the US. The exchange of decent pay and high risk for a pension is not something we as public servants take lightly. We consider all things when we decide to take a lifelong commitment to a community and in turn we expect it to be a marriage to that community a lifelong commitment to us as well .

Don't worry about that. We don't get paid crap and our politicians compare us to public works.

It's with great disappointment to hear about the results of the meeting yesterday. To be compared to every other city employee is sad. Especially after the deadly year we had in law enforcement.

It's time to move on from here. It's hard to leave and lose seniority and start from the bottom and prove your worth all over in a exhausting profession. But consider the fact that if you have kids and want to have a healthy retirement to enjoy a few years after we pass, leave now while you can still walk and don't need back surgery because of the 30 lb belt or vest we wear day in and day out.

Why don't we have the support from council? That's the real question.....

You say that we are the most important department in the city and we get the worst offer in the world. We have become a professional police department thanks to the previous and current chief. We hire the best of the best and the city got rid of the worst. We will become another piece of. Rap PD that no one will want to work for. I'm sure the citizens of Doral don't want to hear this again. We need to UNITE as one and show our citizens how we are being treated. We need to show them that no matter what we will protect them, but at the same time, we will let them know the poor treatment we get from our politicians. When you speak to them, compare us to those professional police departments like ours. Our city has become a wealthy city and very known to our country. If we need to stand at locations and express ourself, then we will. We don't deserve to leave our department because of poor political leadership.

Brother, 90% of the residents in this city don't care what we are making. They come from 3rd world countries where the police are corrupt and rob them and take bribes. They think we are the same people that will deport them. If you want to let the poiliticans know we are disappointed, shut down. Stop doing the extra arrests and citations. Do the bare minimum. Stop getting scared when brass gets nervous and wants results. They can't give us a quota on arrests and citations. Let crime go up again. WE brought it down 18 percent last year and they shit on us. Let the young guys leave. We already operate with 3 people on the road as it is. Welcome to JC Bermudez world.

You said it. Respond to what you're given with 100% professionalism and stop being proactive. Turn the tide, reactive not proactive. And we hire crap here, bc they know we have nothing to offer.

Enjoy our tranquility while it lasts ladies. Be proud of your career, not our fake command staff and progressive chief.

If you want more money in police work, leave this place. We'll forever be at the lower end of the benefits. Enjoy it. Get to a special unit and never work again.

Stay safe and love what you do. And remember, you're better than your superior is.

Well said. They don't appreciate our efforts or the dangers we encounter everyday. We get paid nothing and have to work crappy off duties to be able to survive
