"Lopano's base annual salary is $330,750, including $80,750 in raises. He also qualifies for a $500,000-plus bonus if he remains with the airport until 2018. Fifty-nine of the aviation authority's 570 employees make more than $100,000 a year, up from 40 of 544 employees a year ago with six-figure salaries." TBO.Com

How many of those Fifty-Nine are at the Police Department? The percentage is much higher then any other department.

Now Lapano wants to thank us all with $50 gift card because we worked so hard! My question is where did that money come from. I can certainly promise you it wasn't out of his pocket.

Or from the funds that were illegally allocated to him for a vehicle he drives daily that was from the police forfeiture funds. This was so he could have a new vehicle to drive to and from work, and where ever else he so desires. And by thevway, this little perk has not once been configured it's into that ridiculous salary he makes, especially for an airport of this size. There is one person who stood up to this certain corruption I described, and she left the airport abruptly for another county agency position. She is not hard to find though. Subpoenas are an amazing tool.

So Joe, where did those funds come from to give us all $50? Possibly departments not knowing how to budget, thus leaving monies left over to be put on Lapano's very own purchasing card? Who knows. But it's sure time that someone looks into this entire place to see the corruption that goes on everywhere and everyday here.

The recent posting about Durkin in our department is also sickening. It's simply amazing that that our elected PBA rep has his hand in doing any IA's because of his underserving promotion to sergeant at PSU. I'm sure that his process of doing this has been so fair to many people thus far under his two separate roles. Good and desrserving people were past over because of this shady deal done between him and Sireci. The article shows his true character. And he should not even be working here.

Another thing, how many people over the yearsvdid Chief siteci tell that they needed a degree for a promotion. And Sireci even had put it in writing. Lots of people have learned to keep lots of copies of public documents. And good derserving people who took time away from their families during their off duty hours, work hard trying to obtain a degree thinking they may have a chance at a promotion, and that somehow favoritism would not come into play. So why do these rules do not apply to Durkin. I would think enough people have done this for a class action suit sireci and the aviation authority.

Especially since a past useless DC had a paper mill diploma that was as useless as he was. And this was widely known. And there were even other people who had a degree from this same paper mill that were told it was useless. And having it did her know no good whatsoever. But I understand that degree makes him one heck of a pressure washer!!!

Enough is enough. Sheriff Gee, being the elected official and professional leader that he is, needs to please look into this corruption of funds and other criminal acts that have occurred, and continues to occur. And then this incidents were hidden from the public and swept under the rug. Which in itself, is a violation of the law. There are enough people here, and those who have left, who have an adequate amount of documentation to bring forward to show this is truly a fact at this department lead by chief sireci.

Probably even some who now work for you at HCSO who had claimed many times to be a devoted Christisn and such upstanding law enforcement officers. Well let us see if this one in particular church going person has the courage to come out, and first of all tell all of us the truth about his family connection with sireci, and secondly tell what has happened at this department while he was AC.

The avaiation authority needs to solicit a proposal from the Sheriff' Office to see for themselves just how much of a savings it would have an effect on the airport's budget. And how a truly professional police agency works. And then let see how many of these high level supervisors here now could even qualify to work there. Very very few!

God bless all our officers and those supervisors in the trench trying to do the right thing everyday. And as well as the Traffic Specialist, who have to deal with such indignations from both the public and their supervision that one very good individual, simply had too much and lost his composure.

It's very easy to sympathize with him for bringing down the wrath of over fifty strikes to the person, who felt he didn't have to obey the rules and laws..and it's all caught in tape I'm sure. Which again is public record. And look at all the backing he received after it was him who was struck first but this uber goober. Exactly none from management who felt an exemplary employee needed to be booked into the county jail.

And yet sireci brings I gun to the check point while flying out on personal business and there's not a shrewd of documentation that can probably be found there. But like it was mentioned above, a lot of people legally obtained certain documents before they could be removed. I guess he really things he is above the law.

Very eloquently written. And one with so many descriptives of just what it's like to work at this place. Maybe Lapano thinks that we are such simpletons, that $50 will give him a good survey.., Or did they entirely do away with that?

Just like the employee incentive awards we used to receive for everything from saving a life, to submission and implementation of great ideas to improve the airport overall. Those receiving such award also got a monetary award with it. It's still in the Opersting Procedures of the airport. Such people do keep documents.

And although it may be petty, but it was nice to have drawingsfor both hockey and baseball tickets. What happened to those as well. It's just the idea of that suddenly disappeared. Probably part of Lapano's contract now that he gets them...I will have to see who is sittin in those seats now.

We keep giving things away in our contracts, and they keep taking even more. Yea PBA!!! And of course our reps. Great, great job!

Looks like Luis and Todd have an axe to grind this morning!

Guess Lapano isn't the only person at TIA milking the system.

I just love the idiots who are always looking for someone to blame for posting the truth. Don't blame someone when you don't know for sure. Truly shows the administration is so worried about reading the truth rather resolving the problems. What was written by whomever was all factual as far as I can tell. If you think not, then prove so with facts. Not speculation. And I guess you had time to milk the system in order to make your post this morning you hypocrite! Typical of this place.

This whole place is so corrupt and full ineptness in just about every department. In fact, we were even privalged enough to be one of the first to even have people who thought about deleting text and emails were okay because they too believed they were above the law! Don't gag on that kool aid.

So if you think that the police department is not corrupt and inept, just remember the apple does not fall far from the tree.

From TampaBay.Com

"TAMPA — The Florida Bar is investigating whether former Hillsborough County Aviation Authority attorney Gigi Rechel, who abruptly resigned Thursday, violated the state's Sunshine Law governing open public records.

But TIA officials said Rechel was involved in a potential public records violation this year when she used her private phone to send texts discussing authority business to board member Martin Garcia.

Those matters are public record. But TIA spokeswoman Janet Zink said Rechel told airport officials she didn't realize her phone was not recording those texts so they could be preserved under public records law.

"She went to great lengths to try and recover the text messages," Zink said.
Rechel could not recover those texts, according to airport officials, who could not say what those messages were about."

How about the security breach reported by our fellow IT employees? These guys had integrity and instead of being praised were crucified! When will the attorney general, FDLE or somebody bring justice to these corrupt politicians?

Our newest appointed Hillsborough County Aviation Board member is Brig. Gen. Chip Diehl. A retired member of the Air Force after joing in 2005 and having 30 years of service to his nation. Very very impressive indeed! Thank you for your service.

However, he is on the Tampa Bay Defense Alliance as a Vice President. But who do you suppose sits on that very same TBDA as a Board member...None other then our very own CEO Joe Lapano.

Also, and interesting enough, former Tampa Airport attorney Darcy Foster also sits on that very same board. See for yourself:

http://www.tampabaydefensealliance.com

Now, this may not seem like anything to the kool aid drinkers, so drink up!

But to those who do have intelligence and integrity will realize and understand this. One of the people, who is basically Lapano's boss and who decides his evaluations and determines any possible future increase in income or benefits for him, is the same person who answers to Lapano at the TBDA.

I'm not accusing anyone of anything, but this sure appears to be a conflict of interest. And do you suppose there is the possibility of any discussions going on between these two about the "Master Plan" and any other of Lapano's hopeful future visions at these gatherings?

Oh wait, we will never know since there is history of texts and emails being deleted between Lapano and other Board members as someone so elegantly pointed out previously. And this was all done by the former head the Airport's legal department, your friend and mine, Gigi. The same person that Darcy Foster had to answer to while employed at the airport's legal department. So I guess Lapano simply found a way around that sticky situation.

So I agree that there is an air of public corruption that does need to be investigated, not only within our joke of a police department, but FDLE also needs to look at the entire airport.

Including the seriousness of the security breach that was detected by those IT department members who reported it, and yet who were crucified for it, as was previously mentioned.

So in summary (as attorneys love to say) why doesn't someone just start at the bottom with the sireci and durkin deal, and sireci's practice of nepotism, the hiring process and his blatant disregard forbtransparency, including the process he used to hire his own secretary. Not to mention his total disregard to the General Orders put in place by him, and approved by him, during many many incidents against his own officers as well as towards the public in general, and just work their way up from there.

You have to hand it to them all though. This place was deleting text in violation of the Sunshine Law, and cooking the books with the forfeiture money long before it was cool to do so.

And this money to buy Lapano's car, well it had been awarded to the police department from many long and hard hours of investigations into money laundering cases made by truly good officers and detectives in our department, as well as many outstanding federal investigators of integrity.

And this money awarded was solely intended for, and mandated to be used "Only" for police purposes as put in writing by a Federal agency. This was agreed to, and signed by sireci and members of our legal department. And no amount of this money was ever intended to be transferred into the General Fund so that sireci could get Lopano a car.

And instead of putting it all towards training and equipment for his officers, sireci also managed to get himself and his inept command staff vehicles to drive home everyday. One that lives three counties away. This too is never discussed as added compensation or income for those few privileged few. I would safely say that not one toll, or and amount of gas put into those vehicles has been paid out of their own pockets either. And I would love to see the public records to count how many times these so call leaders in the police department had to be called out from their homes due to some serious criminal incident that occurred in our jurisdiction. Thankfully to the good Lord above, there have been just a very very few, if any, since the vehicles had been bought and issued to these privileged ones.

Hey Kool Aid...you just have to laugh....because sireci really does think we all lack common sense and intelligence enough to keep records.

Yes, we are America's #1 airport. America's #1 most corrupt airport.

How about the security breach reported by our fellow IT employees? These guys had integrity and instead of being praised were crucified! When will the attorney general, FDLE or somebody bring justice to these corrupt politicians?

IT Security Breach Investigation?

Florida's AG office investigators spent a whole hour and a half looking into the security breach. News reporter Mike Deason reported that amount of time they spent here in his report as such. A major airport, and that was the amount of time that was reportedly to have been spent on the breach? Maybe Oz's wife, who works as a PIO at the airport, put that informative story together.

Then they spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on an outside audit company investigating the breach. And this was overseen by Michael Stephens in our legal department, who has the direct responsibility of answering to the Aviation Authority Board. All in the story done by Mr. Deason. No conflict of interest or corruption at this airport!

And the amazing, or rather sad part of his story was that the poor employees who reported the incident were reportedly fired as soon as Lapono "learned" of this incident. That will really want to make employees step up and report such incidents to their supervisors.

Better off going directly to an outside law enforcement agency. Because it's apparent our agency can not handle such an investigation of this magnitude.

In fact, in most people's's opion here, the police department is just an extension of the ineptness of the entire airport. When was the last time the Airport Police Department had a press release on anything...oh wait we just had one recently put out by our PSU regarding a recruitment fair at the airport.

At the airport??? I'm sure there were a lot of people who had time to stop and chat, or for that matter even cared to converse about this joke of a police department. I guess we ran out of police academies to go to, and the word is out about this place.

Maybe the PSU sergeant who came up with this idea, and who doesn't have any type of degree, should get one of those paper mill diplomas like others have. He fits right in there with the rest, and he probably believes he soon will be the next DC.
