I have a few simple questions. I am getting out the army next month. I heard the hiring process is long for OPD and Orange County Sheriff. I have an ASS in Criminal Justice, and I have 3 years in the Army.

When should I officially apply for the department and if you don't mind, which department should I apply for?

Second, are either departments hiring?

Lastly, should I pay for the academy with my GI Bill, or should I try to get sponsored by either department?

Honest answer here....if you are a white male you will have to pay your way through the academy. You will have a hard time getting hired also. Especially if you don't speak a foreign language or have a college degree.

From what I hear it takes an average of 4-6 months to process. Both departments have pros and cons to them. You need to do your research on both agencies. As far as other agencies, I would stick with either OPD or OCSO.

Can anyone inform if the hiring process has been put on a freeze since the terrorist incident?

Well lets see if you qualify.

Can you beat up or shoot innocent civilians over minor infractions?

Can you sit outside a gay club hiding behind your car and let one single shooter shoot or kill 103 people without doing anything about it?

Can you randomly shoot non-compliant unarmed citizens?

Can you fill your quota of revenue generating tickets each and every day?

If you answered yes to the above, then you are definitely OPD material.

Were you special forces, or just a spoon?

If he can ramble on and express a bunch of disorganized thoughts during a press conference he might even make chief!
Oh wait, that's an affirmative action position.
