I am writing this in light of the Orlando tragedy in which, at the current time of this writing, 50 people have been reported as killed and approximately 53 seriously injured. An attack that elected officials, BOTH Democrat and Republican based on known intelligence information have in no uncertain terms, called this a terrorist attack on the United States of America and the worst mass killing in United States history.

I, as a career law enforcement officer of over 36 years understand what the responding officers were going through as they arrived on the scene. Among the confusion and the terror the responding officers made their way into a shooting gallery of death and devastation as chaos rained around them. Without option, they jeopardized their own lives to serve and protect the people that they were sworn to when they took on the responsibility as law enforcement officers. I extend MY personal thanks, and respect for the service and sacrifice that each and every member of the Orlando Police Department and the Orange County Sheriff's Office made in those early morning hour. I also extend my appreciation to every other law enforcement officer in this country who makes that same commitment and sacrifice every single day. Be safe!

So please enlighten us on the proper response. Active shooter 101 is that you push the fight until there is no more shooting, i.e. the shooter takes hostages. Then it is no longer an active shooter it is a hostage situation. which the average patrol officer is no trained to deal with. They did what they needed to do, contain the situation and wait on SWAT. If you look at some of the pictures of where OPD SWAT made their breach, it looks like bullet holes around their entry point. So you calling them cowards is obviously a statement made out of ignorance.

Some interesting facts I've come along.

- FACT: The perp worked for GS4 security. GS4 security is contracted through DHS to relocate entering immigrants via motor vehicle. A large portion of these newly entering immigrants are from Pakistan and Syria.

- FACT: The perp's Father has met with president Obama at the White House.

- FACT: The Ex-Wife has stated after three months of marriage she realized the perp was a "In-denial homosexual. The FBI told her to keep that information to herself……..Why?, who knows.

- FACT: Obama and our CIA started a spin-off from Al Queda called ISIS/ISIL, they've also funded, trained and provided logistics for said group. All of these was obtained by a hard fought FOIA request finally granted to a great organization called Judicial Watch and the report was made by the DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency).

Good job from what I've seen by the on-site officers. You took the fight to the suspect and pushed him into a restroom. Unfortunately the perp barricaded and took hostages, changing the entire dynamics of situation.

Retired now and few years ago i supported gun control, I no longer support any further firearms legislation. I encourage all to purchase and hire a trained competent instructor and practice, practice and some more practice.
