Yesterday communication system crashed from 900 to 2000. The first thing we are told not to do, we do. This includes Sgt's, so many units taking 19 knowing dispatcher can't run the tags, others foot chasing a 57, and so on. Poor dispatcher was going crazy in communication, not only is this an Officer safety issue, is also a stressful situation on everyone. You don't do any proactive work all year round,the day system goes down you want to be proactive. Next time system fails STAY OFF THE RADIO,calls for service only. I heard a unit making a 39 at Margaret Pace Park, unit asking Miami what's the address for the park. Next time use your HEAD, google it don't bother dispatcher with non sense. Use your resources wisely,this includes the Internet. Common Sense is how police works,sad to say many at MPD lack off.

Not bad advice...

A buddy of mine is a trucker. ..makes $100K a year.
He has a great pension plan and med insurance through the Teamsters.

Unlike us, who have to be constantly vigilant so we don't get a cap in our ass,
All he has to worry about is a Prius cutting him off.
