I work the Fort Myers district. My sergeant just questioned why I had 30 minutes without a contact on my TSDR. I was told by my sergeant that according to our Captain, Conner Cardwell, there will will be suspensions from working SOAR if Troopers are not producing. Supposedly, that is coming down from Tallahassee. Has anyone else heard this? Can they actually suspend you from working SOAR if you are not writing 1 ticket every 30 minutes?

I was told the same thing here in Fort Myers. The captain had a meeting with the sergeants the other day and told them about it. He said that if Troopers are not producing during SOAR, he will start weekly suspensions from working SOAR. He doesn't has to suspend me, I stopped working it altogether.

I would live to see this happen. Sounds like a valid Union issue here. I see PBA getting lots of phone calls. And no, I work Troop B and I haven't heard any of this coming from GHQ.

I thought the "quota" that doesn't exist is 2 contacts per hour. Is it being reduced to 1 contact every half hour? Ask the Captain to put it in writing.

In Fort Myers the captain makes the sergeants question 1 ticket per half hour on the TSDR. Yes, my sergeant also told us on a squad meeting here in Fort Myers about the suspension for non-producers.

This SOAR thing is becoming ridiculous and getting out of hand. Someone needs to write to the governor.

No, they don't to write the governor (right, because he's so sympathetic to the conditions of state employees) They need to call and write the organization that supposedly represents the interests of Troopers, the PBA. Of course this is a bargaining agreement issue. *If* this is true, and not just some (more) Ft. Myers bullshit, the PBA needs to jump on it.

From up in north Florida. We are being told a x50 every 20 minutes or you're questioned. Don't know about suspensions.

My advise is stop working SOAR and ODPE, and get approved for a second job. Safest route these days.

Well I hear no matter how many contacts, you are questioned about all of your SOAR time. And your exact 10-20 during SOAR, and then it is checked via GHQ on the AVL. Any anomalies, then OIG slaps the tracker on you for a few weeks. What else can they do to make it clear they DONT want you to work SOAR?

If you are working then what's the problem??? As I understand the only ones who got into trouble were the ones not working but wanting the OT check.

Nothing changes in Ft. Myers the same old same old all the time. Poor supervision has created these problems over the years. Ft. Myers has been a sewer for a good 20 years now.

No the rule or quota was two an hour then go home when Lieutenants and Captains worked it. Now it is one every twenty minutes and you better do your tsdr, notes, laser and radar log on the side of the road not your driveway.

Easy fix I stopped working it.

In Troop H, we have to turn in a TSDR with our SOAR sheets and you better have two traffic stops per hour of SOAR or an explanation why you don't. If you don't have an explanation then you have to take the SOAR hours back that you did not have 2 traffic stops in a hour..

The OIG office recently "audited" the 25 SOAR earners across the state. I thought it was interesting they chose to target 25 people out of 1900 but they did.. I know of the 25 they found 8 to be in violation. This was per the supervisors meeting.

Eventually, they this mentality will spread from overtime projects to the regular shift - where every minute, and action or inaction is scrutinized for review all the time by OIG or a higher level.

We have so many rules, regulations and memos to follow as it is, it's nearly impossible to always do it perfect. Those of you that say "If you just do your job, you have nothing to worry about" are stupid and ignorant. JUST doing your job doesn't cut it anymore.

Simple, harmless mistakes or errors that are easily corrected and cost the state absolutely nothing (nor cast the state in a bad image) are ultimately costing career veterans their employment.

That's because the patrol don't want veterans anymore. They don't want people staying more than 5 years, that way they can keep paying these high school kids 32000 a year, and they don't get a chance to learn the system with the can and can't do by management.

Sergeant Cooper, Johnson has been retired for many years now what the hell does he have to do with anything going on today? Quit trying to drag the guy into every thread about Ft. Myers. Most of the troopers in the district have never met the guy and don't even know him. At some point you are going to have to admit that he was not the problem in Ft. Myers. If you stop and look back the guy has not worked in Ft. Myers for almost a decade and a half now and has been retire for over half a decade from FHP.

Look in the mirror Cooper and you will see one of Ft. Myers biggest problems looking back at you.

Hey buddy it is kind of simple, say you are 10-08 on SOAR for six hours; be out there working for six hours. If your want to go home after three hours then go home and log off when you do. Don't front load activity and sit at the house for half the time you worked. Be square with your time, if you do that, there would be nothing to see when the Gestapo checks your AVL against your SOAR time.

Why so stress

It used to be that Troopers got fired for 2 things, 208 and woman. Now is 3, 208"Woman"SOAR. That's why less people are working it including myself, the 21 dollars overtime an hour are not worth the headache. Getting questioned why I didn't wrote a ticket in 20 minutes. I hope they take it away all together.

Polk is a joke starting with the Captain. Morale is horrible along with supervision. Lakeland needs people who actually know how to do the job, on the road and as a supervisor. No more rejects from other counties who get reprimanded and brought over just to sit on their lazy a$$ and make the district worse! It takes A LOT to make Polk look worse yet somehow it was done!!! HOW IS IT THAT POSSIBLE you ask.....MV!!

If you all are smart, you would all stop working SOAR immediately, statewide. Stop empowering these micromanagers, when the activity is no longer coming in then they can all stand around wondering what happened. STOP now.
