Newly elected sheriffs, county commissioners, property appraisers, judges and state lawmakers may not be able to join the traditional FRS pension plan after 2016, but they may be pushed into a 401(k) investment plan instead. Pension benefits would also end for FRS "senior management service class," which includes upper-echelon administrators.
Non-elected public workers may remain in the pension plan, but would have to be employed for 10 years instead of eight to receive traditional FRS pension benefits.
