So one of our officers was shot today and thank god he'll be okay. Now we have the Mayor and council sending emails and blah blah blah. Leave us alone!!!! You give the cops less sick time than ALL civilian employees. You make the cops pay MORE for health insurance than ALL civilian employees. You're trying to steal our pension thinking your "ordinances" trump any other ordinance that was put into place before your time. You make us sick so stay the hell away from us!!!!

Really!!!! For his training Chief???? You want to cut SRT training from 2 days a month to only 1 day a month and always saying SRT trains too much. What a different tune you take when an SRT Officer gets shot!! You're a real piece of work.

Ok Mayor and Council,
I'm sure it is not pleasant to hear all the comments by many extremely angry officers, but I'm sorry to say that you ALL earned it.

The gestures today by the Mayor, Kramer, and Defelipo are nice to see and refreshing, but do you you really expect these officers to just forget about everything they have been through these past couple of years. You do not even understand the stress you all have caused on everyone. No we do not get shot everyday, but we DO deal with people who can and will try to hurt us EVERYDAY. On top of that we also need to deal with the fact that our leaders have totally thrown us under the bus and now have taken every reasonable benefit away from us. As the prior posts stated less sick hours then civilian personnel, worse pension, pay more money for the exact same insurance as the civilians???? We have to deal with this crap in the streets EVERY SINGLE DAY and on top of that apparently have to fight for every benefit we have lost due to decisions from this Council. We have had people get sick, divorce, retire early, or completely stop doing the job they have always loved. So sorry for the angry posts but if you truly don't get the anger and frustration by now you never will.
You will be forever encrypted in history as bringing new businesses to the city and at the same time creating the worst public safety decisions in the history of not just this city but in the entire county.
That history can be rewritten and you are the only ones that can do it. Let me help you.
1. (Pension) (Pension) (pension)Keep what was promised to those that earned it, and not just today but every single day.
2. Restore petty crap back to what it was 4'hours of sick really????
3. It has been seven years without raises ( 7 years )
4. Please get a Haitian American councilman to replace the race baiting idiot we currently have.
5. Ms, Spiegel we all really hope that you can focus more on your law career, that's all I could say without being very offensive sorry.
6. The rest of you 5 please come together and fix this crap already. Mayor you are going to have to take the lead on this and get grinding on something because this is really spiraling out of control!!!!

Considering we have not had a raise in seven years, it is a joke for the mayor to say he owes LD (and the rest of us) a "debt of gratitude he could never possibly repay".

Uh, yes you could easily repay him. You could give him his first raise in seven years!

And if you truly feel gratitude for his (and our) sacrifices, then you could give us at least the SAME amount of sick leave as the rest of your employees rather than less.

And if you still feel as if you would like to repay LD (and the rest of us) then you could see to it that we have at least the SAME pension benefits as the rest of your employees.

You went on camera and said what you thought would make you look good, but not a word that you said was true or at all sincere in light of your actions as mayor and the terrible way that you have treated your officers. You and New York Mayor De Blasio have something in common...you both act as if you hate your own police department. He hates his because he thinks they are racist, and you hate yours because...well. I can't honestly explain your hatred. I would guess it is partly because you feel like the police refuse to heel, and part is because you think we are overpaid and the rest is nothing but your petty resentment over nasty things said about you right here on this same website. And you responded to some of that criticism at one point, so we all know you read it now. Hopefully, some of what has been said to you here sinks in.

If so, let's all hope that Jorge Vallejo 3.0 is better than his predecessors in terms of showing proper respect to his police force. As we have now been reminded, it can be a very dangerous and thankless job at times.

Words and what he has done with others speak volumes... about the man and his actions! Great POST. It is sad where NMB has gone as once it was the best of the best in the country... Just remember LEOS get paid for what they are trained to do.. and what they are trained to handle daily.. citizens do not have the training and or would go on such calls and SRT call outs. But LEOs who get called to protect those daily are ready and always willing.. so stop kicking them in the balls and ass.. and let us do our job! We get paid for what we may be called to do besides our daily calls..
