for having a legit medical reason forcing them to not being able to shave daily?

Pseudofolliculitis barbae primarily affects men with curly, coarse hair. The prevalence has been reported to be between 45 and 83% in African–American men and is a leading concern among black US Army recruits.[1–3] A survey conducted at the Skin of Color Center involving 71 patients with PFB (41 females and 30 males) showed an average age of onset of 22 years.[4]

I tought we were trying to hire more blacks not run them away?

This is the department we have come to. So you want to grow beards for medical reasons. Great! Now the employees dictate to the department as to how they can look, behave or move about. You are lucky enough to land a government job and no sooner you walk through the door you want to change the rules to your benefit. If you could stay at home and have them deliver your paycheck you would do that as well. Get a grip, you are not entitled to anything. You have to work for what you want. The representatives of this department look like crap for the most part. Even in the major investigative units you have grease balls coming in wearing shorts with funky haircuts and dreadlocks. There is no sense of history and no supervisor with enough manhood to put you in your place. A total embarassment.

How about the scrub in Cutler Bay that all of a sudden needs to wear a tactical vest outside his class B because he has a "skin" issue.

Everybody wants to look like a tough guy. Lol. Unfortunately, there are some guys that truly believe that you need all of that tactical crap to do patrol work. Reminds me of Sgt. Alsbury, carrying 4-5 guns on his person and everything from scuba gear to a machine gun in his trunk.

Bill Alsbury might have been a bit eccentric, but few sergeants could match his innate ability to set up a perimeter and apprehend robbery and burglary subjects. Preparedness in the pursuit of effective policing is no vice.

True, other than his craziness, his real claim to fame was his ability to set up a perimeter. But setting up a perimeter isn't rocket science and it's scary that there are supervisors or officers that can't do it. The ability to determine with some certainty where a subject is fleeing goes to your knowledge of the district and it's residents.Good police work should be the norm not the exception. Out of respect for the dead, I'll leave it at that.

Apparently, he mixed up some birdshot with blanks. Thank God it was't buckshot. He also ran over a detective he mistook for a subject. He had some issues toward the end.

This is but a sign of the times.
If you are a male supervisor you really can’t discipline female officers without being charged with “sexual Harassment and maintaining a hostile work environment”; if you are white you can’t discipline a black officer because you are a “racist”; if you are a male supervisor you can’t discipline a gay officer because you are a “Homophobe”; shit, I am not going to only discipline the white straight officers; that would really suck!

Why should you have to shave, when you don't have to be fit either? Have you seen the amount of Fat sloppy officers we have on the road? Why can't we have annual physicals and require officers to fall in a certain weight range to work the road?
And i seems like wearing a tactical vest in Class B is the new Norm. Maybe you can pretend you are in a specialized unit while you work off duty at Walmart and wear your vest on the outside….. Geezus

Don’t you know that our ranks reflect a microcosm of the over-all society. We don’t stick our hand in a special barrel to obtain police applicants; these are your neighbors (vomit) and to top it off, we did away with any applicable standards of personal ethics, fitness and performance.
All of this is known to you and others as "Affirmative Action".
Go figure.

Affirmative action, once a requirement to break down the good ole boy neighborhood, is no longer needed. There are plenty of qualified candidates of every race and ethnicity. People should be hired based on their intelligence and common sense. With police jobs being in such high demand now, it would be a welcome sight to see hirings of individuals with at least a bachelor's degree. Age is also a factor in maturity. The mindset of a 20-24 year old applicant is not as mature as someone aged over 25. These factors should be studied and implemented. It would make for a more professional department and would eliminate a lot of our problems.

During the growth years of this department, late 60’s and 70’s, most applicants were white males that had just finished with their 2 year military obligation. They had been exposed to the rigors of the military, the discipline, rank structure, chain of command, individual responsibilities, team responsibilities and in some cases they had been in combat.

Fast forward to today, our applicants have no military experience, no perception of discipline, personal responsibility, live at home with mommy and daddy, lives above his/her means and all they do is cry because they want it all without paying any dues. So when they can’t pass the promotional exams, we give them appointed ranks in order to “Achieve Cultural Diversity” within our organization. We do this in total disregard of the “Peter Principle” and promote several ranks beyond the individual’s level of incompetence. The subsequent screw ups are so huge and convoluted that the cover-ups make "Watergate" seem like kids play!

Now, that progress!
That’s how we got our Director.
That is why the organization is corrupt.
And that is why there is no cure or fix unless the organization is totally destroyed and rebuilt from the ground up by men and women of honor and ethics.
