Painkiller overdoses are 25 percent lower in states with medical marijuana, according to research in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

Overdose rates averaged 20 percent lower a year after medical marijuana was allowed and 33 percent lower by the sixth year.

After the Florida Supreme Court ruled that an amendment to legalize medical marijuana can be on the November ballot, Sheriff Tom Knight responded by saying that medical marijuana will lower property values and hurt tourism.

Is there any basis in reality for Knight's nutty statement and are his conclusions based on FDLE statistics? Or is Knight just making more delusional statements with the automatic expectation that people will believe him because he is an elected sheriff? How is Knight connecting the dots between medically prescribed drugs and property values (and tourism)?

Here is where Knight is getting his information from:

Tom said it and he believes it and that settles it. Why let facts, figures and reality stand in the way of politics and delusions?

Even the deaf and dumb can see, hear and experience reality more clearly than Mr. Knight.

After the debate, with a microphone in one hand and a drink in the other, Morgan addressed a gathering of young supporters using language that would come as no surprise to anyone who knows Morgan personally.

"If you m--------ers don't get up and vote, f---- it all, we can't win," said Morgan to screaming approval.

"He's with a bunch of very young people. He's glorifying marijuana use. It's all about a party. It's all about getting high, and it's done in a very disgusting way," said Calvina Fay, executive eirector of Drug Free America in St. Petersburg.

Fay said the video undermines Morgan's claim that amendment 2 is about the compassionate use of medicine.

"He did say as soon as he gets out of Polk County that he might smoke a lot of grass. That's not talking about medicine and compassion. That's talking about getting high and partying," Fay said.
