CHIEF BLOM AND STAFF :
GREAT TO SEE YOUR DEPARTMENT FINALLY DOING SOME VALUABLE AND NECESSARY TRAINING.
AS A RESIDENT OF DORAL I HAVE A HUGH CONCERN FOR YOUR OFFICERS. IT'S MY OBSERVATION AND VERIFIED THROUGH CONTACTS , YOUR OFFICERS ARE VERY LIMITED IN FIRE POWER WHILE ON PATROL .THESE ARE THE SAME OFFICERS THAT ARE GOING TO RESPOND TO SUCH VOLATILE AND CRITICAL INCIDENTS IN MY CITY . AS I RECALL , YOUR AGENCY HAS NUMEROUS HIGH POWERED RIFLES AND TACTICAL GEAR PURCHASE BY THE LAST ADMINISTRATION IN STORAGE . I REQUEST THAT YOU PLEASE TRAIN AND CERTIFY YOUR OFFICERS AND ISSUE THOSE MUCH NEEDED WEAPONS TO THEM. WHAT'S SAD TO ME IS KNOWING THE CITY OF DORAL HAS THE MONEY FOR TRAINING , YET THE CITY'S FRUGAL ADMINISTRATION AND POLITICIANS RISK THE LIVES OF YOUR OFFICERS AND CITIZENS ON A DAILY BASIS .CHIEF BLOM AND STAFF , PLEASE DEMAND FROM YOUR BOSSES TO SPENDING THOSE $50 MILLIONS PLUS IN RESERVE AND DON'T PLAY RUSSIAN ROULETTE WITH THE LIVES OF YOUR OFFICERS.
ALWAYS REMEMBER DORAL POLICE DEPARTMENT !!!!!!

The City Manager has informed me that he is revamping the position of Police Chief to a Public Safety Director who will additionally oversee departments such as Code Enforcement, Public Works and Public Affairs to name a few.
I believe that I have the experience, qualifications and credentials to fill this position. However, I also feel that with the numerous projects and initiatives currently underway, including the expansion of the police facility, a full time and dedicated Police Chief is the most prudent and responsible approach in overseeing the police department at this time.
In addition, the manager agreed that although the advancements and achievements experienced at the police department under my leadership were significant, and in some cases "trend setting", his vision is to take the department in a different direction under this new configuration.
Therefore I have submitted my resignation which will become effective August 1, 2014.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude and thanks to all those (sworn and support staff alike) who assisted me in moving this department forward with a host of various initiatives. Your candor, input, views and ideas in regard to the improvement of the internal functioning of the department, as well as to the delivery of services provided to the public was welcomed, appreciated and most of all valued.
I was indeed fortunate to be presented with an opportunity to influence the day to day operations, as well as the growth and development of many people at the police department. I have learned throughout my many years of service that the best strategies, plans or initiatives can only be fully realized with a well-trained and motivated workforce. That theory was certainly validated not only by the results of our efforts but also by the professional and enthusiastic manner by which they were achieved.
The partnerships that we created with the community and media certainly contributed to the important reduction in crime every single month for the past 17 months while I was at the department’s helm. I also want to thank the Mayor and Council members whose support was responsible for the creation of a full-time surveillance squad. That squad concentrated on commercial, residential, as well as vehicle burglaries that were on the rise when I was appointed to the Chief’s position. The proactive approach that this squad employed was directly responsible for numerous felony arrests and a significant reduction in burglaries each and every month that they have been deployed.
My efforts were sincere and my passion and admiration for the job, the people of the police department and the City of Doral was and still is genuine. I hope that the impact that I left was a positive one and thank you once again for all your patience, understanding, consideration and assistance in pursuing our common goals. Good Luck and stay safe.
Thank you,

Richard Blom
Chief
Doral Police Department

I just saw where Pinecrest conducted training on tactical home entries. Maybe we can do some of that type of training here?

Sgt. Gomez has been doing a great job in trying to get us as much in service training as possible. A lot more than the first chief ever tried to do. Good Job Sgt. Gomez. Keep up the good work!

Hahaha......! I'm going to peen in my pants. Let's start by saying to stop sniffing Sgt. Gomez' dirty underwears. Obviously is affecting your brain. That specific sergeant along with her grass eating lieutenant, have no clue of what training is about.

Yvette Gomez stop making yourself look like you are the shit! You and your LT only know how is to sit, drop and role over! You can't train if all you do is spend your time is chewing grass. Maybe you should get some training from the K-9 dogs.

Reaf, come, sit, role over so Yvette and the lT can scratch your bully. You should join them in eating the grass all day long. Heel Reaf will be your next lesson.

BIG GUY sucks!

Wow! What a contrast between the Classy letter posted by the Big Guy and the vulgar 3rd grade retort that wants to drown it out. I think Class trumps Crass. Instead of spending your time on this site spewing your vulgarity go back to school, get educated and than maybe you can express yourself in a more civilized manner but for now keep your vulgarity on the bathroom walls.

David please sign up for K-9 training to sit, drop and roll over and eat grass with them because that is the only training you will receive.

What's with the enamor over that female Venezuelan officer? It seems every time there's an article about doral pd she is always mentioned, along with the title of 1st female Venezuelan officer. Is she that good, or this more fanaticism than anything else? She wasn't the only one hired in that group, so what's the deal?

She is not Venezuelan! Venezuelan are more intelligent, she is Dominican and just out right slow and no brains. If she hits the ground she will eat grass and will forget to stand up. Sit, roll, drop are the only commands that she knows.

Roll, it is roll. Not role.

Monkey see monkey do!!! Any one that watches YouTube or the local news, can set a training. Gomez must of watched the local news and papers, posting that Miami-Dade PD and Sweetwater PD conducted a "Reality" based training at Dadeland and Dolphin mall. Miami-Dade PD the source of Special Response in Miami, and for Sweetwater PD, the second nearby Special Response trained department! Stop trying to impress your administration by trying to create a new training that has been developed already by "professionals" with specialty training. Another major big "Police Safety" issue, how the hell do you allow the local media and none Police individual to sit in a training for Police "supposedly", to assist in hostage situations and immediate threat. Didn't you thing you were maybe showing the criminals reading the news paper or watching the local news on how your department is training? Not too bright!!!
