Police Aide Position

Hi, folks. I'm interested in working as a LEO in Sanibel. I've visited many times, and I love the area. I am a FL certified officer, but the hiring situation in SW FL is fairly dismal. I am wondering if perhaps the Aide position is a good foot in the door towards a LEO position. I know you folks don't hire officers all too often, and when you do, competition is fierce, so if I can give myself an edge by working for the dept. in a civilian capacity, I'd be more than willing to do it.

Also, do you guys have Reserve positions? Any openings?

A good majority of the LEOs working at Sanibel started as a Police Aide, that will be a great way to get your foot in the door, especially since you've passed the academy. It's June now, SPD will be hiring for PA positions in a few months for the busy season. Even though there is no current application out for the PA position, feel free to contact LT.
