View Full Version : Ms. Jill Mullins & Brad Steube & Homicide

09-09-2013, 02:41 PM
Sheriff Brad Steube says the investigation into the death of Pat Mullins hasn't answered fundamental questions.

Mullins never owned a shotgun, but he was killed with a shotgun blast and tied to an anchor in Tampa Bay waters.

Jill Mullins has been given the message that investigators want her to believe that her husband killed himself.

The primary investigator had never worked a murder case.

Investigators found evidence that Pat Mullins was making upbeat retirement plans and preparing for new tinkering projects.

But there is strong evidence of one thing: Steube is now inappropriately angry at a reporter here, and at this newspaper, for reporting what Ms. Mullins is saying.

Steube is still angrily insisting that Mullins was never told to accept that her husband killed himself.

The sheriff is even claiming that Herald-Tribune reporter Lee Williams is fueling the widow's view.

That is almost as bizarre as the death itself.

Ms. Mullins contacted the Herald-Tribune. She knows what she believes about the investigation and why, and she knows how she feels about it. And she is both adamant and credible.

She says an investigator told her she needed to “be reasonable,” and “that upset me because I think I'm being reasonable.”

The sheriff insists that she was never told that. Somehow, he would know.

Did the deceased tie himself up to the anchor before or after the shotgun blast?

Did the deceased hurl himself into the bay before or after the shotgun blast?

Since there was no blood spatter on the boat, was the deceased shot somewhere other than his boat?

Instead of trying to classify this as a suicide to manipulate in-house MSO numbers, it should simply be left open. It's like downgrading a burglary (felony) to a trespassing (misdemeanor) to manipulate the stats that are reported to the FBI -- which could influences voters and tourists.

Interesting citizen comments:

This type of police work should make every person be afraid of the law enforcement community. Yep he tied himself to the anchor and leaned over the boat so not to dirty it when he shot himself. suicide for sure.

And this is one of the reasons people do NOT trust the Manatee County Sheriffs Office.

Pat Mullins death investigation under review

A seasoned homicide detective and a sergeant from the Manatee County Sheriff's Office are conducting an internal review of their agency's controversial investigation into the death of Pat Mullins.

"We're reviewing the case — going back and looking at it. It seemed like the right thing to do," sheriff's spokesman Dave Bristow said Wednesday. "We're pursuing it as undetermined, trying to get resolution one way or another."

God bless the family. They are doing the right thing. I think, hope and pray that MSO will assist.
