Does any other Alpha Shift other then me have an issue with In Service starting at 8am as opposed to 1pm as its been for the past 10 years or longer. It personally makes no sense to me for Deputies and Sergeants to get off from work at either 5am or 6am and then go to train and expect to drive to and from In Service safely, absorb what's being taught, and then handle a firearm and qualify at the end of a 22 hour day. I know people will blame the Sheriff for this ridiculous decision but its obviously not, its the fault of the new training Captain who has obviously no idea the shifts that we work, that we are not allowed to work more then 16 hours in a 24 hour period and that the Dept of Labor requires 6 hours between shifts. Good luck and be safe driving and shooting because its apparent the Training Division could care less about the people they are training.

It sucks, but your command should let you go by 0100 at the latest, as mine is.

From my understanding most commands are telling Deputies if they want to leave early they have to take vacation time which is absolutely insane. The whole point in training is to learn something, how do u learn something if your not awake???

This is a legitimate complaint. Why don't you forward it via. the proper channels. Just maybe they overlooked this issue by mistake.

Obviously a mistake. If you work Alpha shift you should have the night before training off as the training day would/ should be considered work day. Example if you work Thurs night for Fri normally you should have Thursday night off as Friday would be worked during the day.

Guess again, Rook. When in service was two days (bcc and psb) it was 8-4...that was around 2007.

OK. So they give me off the night shift before my In Service day. I get some sleep and train from 0800-1600. But Then i have to go to work that night from 1800-0600. Still worked 20 hrs in a day. If In Service falls on your Monday (Wednesday), then they give you that night off, it works fine. But what about all the training dates that fall in the middle of your week?

Wahhhh wahhhh wahhhh. Go work at McDonalds if you don't like it. There is a long list of men and women that would love to be LEO's and work here 65ing calls. You would cry even if a directive stated no more crying

You kids wanted the 12 hour shifts. You also work 44 hours every other week and you aren't compensated for OT. Good eh?

It has nothing to do with 12 hours or 8 hours its about common sense which its quite apparent no one is using!!
