View Full Version : Anybody not claiming mileage? Help!!

04-18-2013, 04:54 PM
We just got our state car....over 280000 miles. They want us to take this car into the boonies where there is little or no cell service. I want to use my own car and not submit mileage. They tell me that is not allowed. If you are being allowed to do this please respond with circuit number. Thanks.

04-18-2013, 05:56 PM
You are an idiot for not using the state car. why would you pay to work? There are 2 fat asses in my office at drive their own cars, because they say that it hurts their backs. First, I say lose about 100 or more lbs and then maybe you can get in and out of the car. I love using the car but hate fighting 20+ officers to get it. I think every office should have at least 2 cars, but that would be too forward thinking. Good luck driving you state car, and have the tow company on hand. I just drove our POS over 100 miles the other night and we are put the mileage on it and report any problems. Have fun.

04-18-2013, 06:53 PM
In my office, officers who are willing to waive reimbursement can drive their own cars. Personally I can only think of a few scenarios when I would do so. Why waste your own gas??? My only problem is having to share a car with 20 other officers. My office has CC & Specialist. So obviously they use the car more than me. Personally, I think we need 2 cars per office or lower the amount of fieldwork.

04-18-2013, 09:20 PM
The problem is that with everyone not claiming mileage and still making contacts things will never change. The idiots above actually think they are saving money by officers using the state car. If the car is not available then contacts should not be made on your dime.

OK...I guess I should elaborate....I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE MONEY...it's not an issue. I just would like to drive my own car. I have worked this job for 27 years...all the time driving my own car. I have 52 weeks left. I don't want to drive a POS car in the field during my final year. I don't need the 150-200 bucks. I will gladly donate it to the state, I've heard they need the money. To the poster who calls himself "Stupid Crybaby"....you shouldn't be so hard on yourself....I'm sure you're not a crybaby. To the poster who said that officers in his office can waive reimbursement, please tell me the circuit number. To anyone else who would like to respond....I really would like to know if your circuit allows a waiver of reimbursement of mileage. My office sup is a by the books guy and he tells me it can't be done. Thanks for your kind responses.

in circuit 6 as long as we write on the log that the state car is available but we chose not to use it and we chose not to charge the state for mileage we can use our own car. I use the POS state car.

You are what we call a useful idiot. Don't care about contacts and this job more then the imbeciles at circuit, region and central office. Sign up for the car, use the car, drive it into the ground, but whatever you do, DON'T USE YOUR OWN CAR without getting paid for it.

Finally an intelligent response. Thank you. All those posters who choose engage in childish name calling...if it makes you feel better, go ahead. I need a good chuckle.

04-18-2013, 10:37 PM
Drive the ***** into the ground. Every person who "eat" mileage is just giving Tally exactly what they want: us to do field work and NOT get reimbursed for it. Anyone that does that is a fool. And circuit six has a lot of them, from what I hear. I never will do that. If the car isn't available, I guess I don't get my contacts done. What are they gonna do...fire me? For the person with 52 weeks left...who gives a shit what you do? You're gone in a year. It's the rest of us here that are stuck with this mess...

I think Circuit 10 in Lakeland allows it. Some guy name P.C. was eating a lot of miles I heard. :snicker:

Some officers in Circuit 12 are using their personal vehicles without getting reimbursed. Most of you make less than 40K a year, have had no raise in years, and now you donate money to Rick Scott and the State of Florida? Really?! What next? Are you going to buy some paper for the printer? Maybe some light bulbs for the office? This agency treats us worse than offenders. Get a clue people. Stop drinking that D.O.C. Kool-Aid.

Same thing in C-11

One car per office is bullshit. Last month when I complained the car was scheduled throughout the month, the office supervisor told me that I could use it on the last Saturday of the month between midnight and 4am. THAT WAS THE NEXT AVAILABLE OPEN TIME FRAME!!!

I'm with you. I wouldn't piss on dirty **** scott if he was on fire. So, I'm definitely not going to "give" that MF by money!

04-19-2013, 02:06 AM
Drive all cars in 2nd gear the entire time. They ruined enough of our cars, time to pay back.

04-19-2013, 03:01 PM
Check the rules ...er...guidelines.

If you drive your own, now being call POV personal owned vehicle, AND a State Car IS available you can't be reimbursed. Nothing prohibits you CHOOSING to drive your own on your own nickel. If someone tells you otherwise refer them to the procedure if you are still told no file a grievance.

I cannot see driving the POS so I drive the POV.

My bet is when these state POS's die they are not going to be replaced right now they cost nothing when the powers that be have to buy new ones you will be back to driving your POV. Plus if no one drives them your SUP and CA will get *****ed at and how good is that?

04-20-2013, 12:21 AM
central office loves idiots like you that will use their own cars. That's what they want. Who cares if the state car is a POS? Its not your car? Why don't you just work for no paycheck like **** scott?

04-20-2013, 12:39 PM
I heard some officers saying they will get a larger income tax refund by using their own cars and waiving state reimbursement. I wonder if this is true?

I think you get 55 cents credit a mile against your total for taxes but that isnt the same as actually getting 55 cents back on your tax return per mile so you still lose money doing that.

Not even close. Its a state Ponzi scheme. Don't drive your own car without getting paid. Don't be a sucker!

Has anyone explained to you the liability. I believe the States Liability is a $100,000. That is after your Insurance Company sues them and forces them to pay. Before that your Liability is going to be your policy limits. Oh, did you tell your Insurance Company you use your vehicle for Buisness Purposes and paid the appropriate Insurance Premium. I am aware of one instance in our office of an employee being sued. It was by a fellow employee riding in an employee car while she was doing Field Work. The other employee may not have been on the clock? At least not scheduled. The Employee got away with it claiming permanent Disability. It was Insurance Fraud by the Lazy Azz Ex-Employee. If your using your car and the State doesnt require it...and they dont... they supply you a vehicle... its your problem. It is your Life Savings. Think your personal ASSETS are protected in Civil Litigation?

04-20-2013, 11:13 PM
If you go this route, you will have to ITEMIZE on your taxes, i.e., not take the STANDARD DEDUCTION.
You can only claim the difference of what the State pays ($.445) and what the Federal rate is for the year. Also the claimed mileage has to account for a certain % of your overall mileage. I do CC and still have never been able to get enough mileage to reach the required percentage.

AGREED... The more department money they can get us officers to save at the bottom, the more they have to wine and dine on at Central Office and above!

Sorry the original poster wanted to know if he would be stopped from using his own car.
Deal is if the state car is available and you drive your own no money. Otherwise you get paid.

Why do I care is the state car is a pos. Because if I am in BFE at o dark thirty I want to know I can get home.

Thus far our state cars have had bad brakes -told to drive any way REALLY?

Overheated told to take a jug of water with us REALLY?

Gas gauge didn't work told to make sure to set the trip tic at 250 when you gas up and to refill when it hits 0-REALLY?

You drive the state POS all you want maybe your spouse will get your benefits you died in the line of duty right?

Some people are just pennywise and pound stupid.

04-22-2013, 12:38 PM
Pennywise and pound stupid should be incorporated into the Mission Statement.

Does it make sense to drive a state car that has over 100k miles 60 miles roundtrip for an oil change at the prison, not to mention the time that's involved when you can just take it to a Jiffy Lube?

Why are inmates involved at all in servicing vehicles.

Why are there no state motor pools that all state agencies could bring their vehicles for service/repairs? DOT, FDLE, FHP, DC, FWC...

To think outside the box, you have to first acknowledge you're inside the box.

Well ,if you use your own car and gas to do state business, then you don't have the brains that God gave a common jack ass! **** Scott loves a puppet like you!

Same here: one car office. No car available...no reimbursement if you use your own car. Which I refuse to do.

04-27-2013, 10:52 PM
If I don't get paid, I'm not doing it. I refuse to do state business on my dime. Any if they try and make me, I have Morgan & Morgan on speed dial. Believe that, player!

04-28-2013, 05:28 AM
Just for fun, have Morgan and Morgan name your office Stupervisor in the suit as a respondent, since they have no veil of immunity!! At any rate, it will keep their sorry ass so tied-up in court they won't have time to check your PP89's :snicker:

I am living in Ft. Myers. and Morgan and Moran is King atleast with TV ads. Google, "Using personal vehicle for business" and you find it is a grey area as far a vehicle Liability. It points to YOUR insurance company is primary. It will pay all claims. If they believe the State is liable in part they will go after them. Of course in this day in age the Victim (Maybe You) will go after everything they can get. Back to the start, Its your accident. Its your premium and if the State did not pay you millage at the time it was a "Double PooP Day".

04-28-2013, 07:32 PM
Ok here's what you do.

Drive your own car. Get the State Vehicle logbook. Photocopy the page that shows someone else was using the State car whilst you were using your POV. Turn the copy in with the travelog. If not accepted file a grievance.

Our CA has made it 100% clear only the state car is to be used and she doen't care if you have to go out at 2am to find a time open to use it.

And Mikey Crews is on our side!

04-28-2013, 08:38 PM
Yes, Crews was all over the news fighting for us to get a good pay raise! :snicker: I didn't see or hear a peep out of this figurehead!

Policy says that if car is available, you use it. If it is not available, you get reimbursed for mileage. Bottom line, if car is not available, they have to pay your mileage! Read he travel policy! Contact teamsters. They are currently working on this and need all the ammo they can get.

Negative. The Teamsters are a joke like usual. CA's are saying you use the state car period even if you have to use it at 2 am. The Teamsters said they had it covered months ago just like us getting extra raises- they are a joke.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, the Teamsters are a joke, PBA is a joke, FDOC is a joke. Just sit back and take your screwing like a man. Don't complain here that is of no use. Don't file grievances that is of no use. No back talk just OBEY! Anytime someone on this site makes any kind of suggestion involving standing up or growing a backbone they get gang raped by the usual dipshits. Starting to think management uses this site to keep us on our knees.

What circuits aren't ? I am talking about the offices that have the state car close not some satellite offices located a long ways from their circuit where they have been allowed to use their own car.

05-04-2013, 11:45 PM
Circuit 6. CA told all sups, officers are not to be paid for mileage. I was in the meeting. I eat mileage all the time, because the 1 car is not available when I am in the field. I have kept track of every single mile. In Pasco, the SO (NPR 062) has been helping them make contacts so they don't have to use their own car. How embarrassing is this.
