Miami Dade Police officers who live out of county are about to loose their take home cars. And this is coming from the board of commissioners of dade county. I highly doubt that Monroe County Sheriff will allow the board of commission the fate of whether out of county deputies can drive their take home cars out of the county. The end of what "civilians" calls perk will be coming soon. :(

To Southernmost Point FOP Leaders,

Hey Mr. FOP President. We believe you should revisit the articles on the take home program in our contract. As we all know we gave the Sheriff the absolute authority when it comes to taking away the vehicles from the out of county deputies. The "Sheriff" as the article states can take the vehicles whenever he pleases. The very least we can do is to amend the contract and have the out of counties deputies return the vehicles within a 6 month timeframe with a set condition. We should get another pay raise of a few thousand dollars to include in county deputies. Regardless how you out of county deputies want to look at it, it will be a matter of time before the "Sheriff" decides to implement the changes. In today's volatile economy it will be a matter of time before gas prices surges past the 4 dollars a gallon mark. I rather know that I am getting a pay raise rather than not knowing when I am having my vehicle taken away without any pay raises. Better safe than sorry. Just my two cents. I know it sounds harsh but that's the way agencies are going to.

Only Upper Keys employee's perk. It has been abused for wayyyy too long. The folks deserve better. If you want to work here, then live here !

See this is the problem with this agency, instead of banding together and fighting for everyone, you are all just concerned with the ones that live in county. But let me ask you this, is it going to matter whether or not if they live in or out of county if you ass gets in bind and the closest person to you is someone who lives out of county. No i don't think so. But it will matter if that out of county person does not have a take home car, because your an idiot and won't stand together on the issue, but say hey screw it, take their car away, as long as I get a raise. Because without that take home car, maybe they respond a few seconds late and within that few seconds, you get hurt or killed, and it could have been faster for them to get there with a patrol car. Think about that, instead of thinking about your damn self, you self righteous, ignorant excuse for a cop. Think about everyone as a whole and stop dividing the department. But I can tell you this, when you read this, you will make some smart comment again pertaining to "if you want to work here, live here" that is the most ignorant comment said on this website. So go ahead and say your ignorant comment again and show how much of a total retard you are.

The damages are already done. I rather return my vehicle and get a pay raise before I get screwed without a pay raise and without a take home. New employees and existing employees who decides to move out of county are already screwed. Lets be realistic here there's no way that we can afford to buy a residence in the keys unless we are pushing triple digits and that's not gonna happen. stay safe and keep bashing.

1. Amend the take home articles on the FOP contract.
2. Give all deputies a substantial pay increase.
3. = no more worries about when and if the "Sheriff" will take the cars away without any pay raise. Take it how you want it. The good times are over. And no one is leaving in mass exodus. The folks of the upper keys who wants to leave will just dwindle away.

Be realistic here guys/gals.
