ATTENTION ALL BROTHERS AND SISTERS- The Miami Police Administration has decided that since we will not stand for being lowballed by being paid a lower rate at the HEAT game (on March 10th during Calle Ocho), they have asked Sweetwater, Hialeah, and are in the process of asking other agencies (Florida City, Homestead, Etc)to work at that lower rate. While other agencies make over 45 an hour at events, the MPD has decided to continue to have our police officers treated like redheaded step children. I am asking each of you to contact your friends at other police departments to request that they do not sign up to work any event that is intended to belittle and devalue every cop in Miami. Please forward this to everyone you know. We ask that our brothers and sisters in other agencies join us in this cause for solidarity. SAY NO TO MARCH 10TH! United we stand. Divided we fall!

Sweetwater is well known for taking low bid jobs outside of the jurisdiction. Good luck with them, they do not care. There command staff has even engaged in mafia style tactics with FHP troopers at job sites.

The troopers will not take those jobs, its not worth the fight with other agencies.

Excuse? Telling another officer not to take an off duty job is like telling someone not to fee their children. Gotta put food on my table.

No, not worth it.

Given the opportunity to work that event, I personally will not. :cop:

I will also not look upon those who do with any sort of disdain. Unfortunately for many, they must work these 208/59 details in order to make ends meet, including those in the smaller agencies of who many are unpaid reserves.

It's a tough issue, but I'm glad I can afford to skip a detail to show support for the brotherhood.
