Can we carry glock 23 as a primary? On annual leave and looking to buy one.

Why not go for the full size 22? More capacity, longer sight radius, grip size is the same.

I had a 22 and went to a 23 when I went to CI and never switched back. I use the 27 for off-duty. I would also recommend the 22 for the road unless you also carry it off-duty.

That's the reason why I am thinking about buying it. You can carry it as a primary for road patrol, but also smaller to carry for off duty. I know some of you may think half in inch is no biggie but I believe it's also wider then the 22. I am going from an old Sig P220 to the 23 due to more rounds and easier to carry for off duty. Best of both worlds. Thanks for the feed back.

Damn it my bad. Meant to say the 22 is wider than the 23. Just woke up. :snicker:

I carry the 19 off duty! 15+1 9mm. Great gun never fails!! Beretta .40 on duty!

I hear the 23 and 19 dimensions are the same and you can convert a 23 to a 19 by changing the barrel and mags. Nice little feature if true.

21sf (45cal), big bullet, smooth recoil. 40cal jumps too much

This is true if your a woman, and yes 19&23 same size.

The frames on the 19 and 23 are identical. Changing the slide and magazine AND EJECTOR will allow you to swap calibers. You can usually get away with a .40 using a 9mm ejector but I wouldn't do it on a duty gun.

The 17, 19, 22, and 23 have identical weights. Only the grip and barrel/slide assembly are extended. The 21/20 are wider than the 9/40 caliber weapons, but the 36 and 30S are narrow.

Well I bought it and will shoot the 23 this week. Feels good in my hand. Bought it at Lou's for 420. Also bought the Bodyguard 380 for off duty. Did you see the old guy shoot the 23 and hit targets from 240 yards away on you tube? Crazy shit right there a must see.

Please know what you are talking about before you give advise to someone about a gun. Let's recap: the 22 and 23 are the same width, and the 23 barrel is slightly shorter and the grip is slightly shorter. The 36 is the only single stack and is considerably thinner than the 30. The 30 and the 21 are the same width, with the 30 having a slightly shorter barrel and grip. The 9mm's and the .40 are built on the same exact size frame and slide, but have many different internal parts, so you cannot just swap the barrel. Buy a Sig P250 if that is what you are looking for.

Confused, who is giving advise? Second you can change the barrel and ejector to convert the 23 to a 19. A matter a fact look at you tube and see for yourself or read up on it. You do need a 19 mag to shoot it. As far as the different internal parts can you elaborate please. Btw what's up with the nasty response. You are the only one posted on this thread with attitude. Chill out.

Most of the posters here are suggesting one thing some another. I have one bit of advice and Ive been a NYPD Cop/BSO Deputy for 19 years COMBINED. If you want a 19 go buy a 19 if you want a 23 go buy a 23. Don't go converting your 19 to a 23 and vice versa, thats how accidents and malfunctions happen. Go to a gun store and rent a 19 or whatever you wish and shoot it and decide or ask a fellow deputy to shoot their's. When you convert a gun to something it was not designed you are taking a risk with your life, your partners life and if you carry off duty your family's life. In this day and age I cant afford to take that risk!
