Apparently some of us were advised in our staff meetings and some were not however DOC has decided that they are dropping ACA accreditation for community corrections. They will maintain it for the prisons.

You may be right if you mean that "this is a sign" of the end. However, ACA is a lot of resources $$$ and human to comply with the ACA. The financial savings benefits could be significant. BUT, WAIT A MINUTE!!! DIDNT DC JUST PUT A BUNCH A A-holes UP IN FANCY NAPLES HOTELS to belong to some FLORIDA ASSOCIATION OF A-holes in COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS???

ACA is the reason for so much BS "make-work"! This job should be about supervising criminals, not about IT30's and other senseless crap that comes along with ACA standards.

What are the consequences to not being ACA certified?

Accountability
All agencies are required to provide information about pending litigation, court orders, consent decrees and class action lawsuits concerning the facility or agency. The Standards and Accreditation Department also requires that agencies provide media reports, special reports, and/or other information that may impact accreditation. Further, the Standards and Accreditation Department also requires that agencies post public notices of the approaching standards compliance audit, inviting submission of written comments and information about the program from staff, offenders and the public. The Standards and Accreditation Department provides posters to the agency for this purpose (Appendix B).

It is less about consequences and more about, "What are the benefits....". The benefit is DC doesnt have to be ACCOUNTABLE to anyone outside the State. How could the same E-Train questions for 7 years be recognized as "PROFESSIONAL TRAINING" which the ACA requires. Simply the state has taken Community Corrections and our Probation Services to such a low level that FCAT certification is more appropriate.

ACA is a waste on the CC side but probably helps with lawsuit stuff on the prison side I would think.
