Can someone answer why is it that many cubans choose the Republican party? Republicans tend to be pro white and pro corporate america not minorities. I dont unserstand when minorities who come to this country and families struggle choose a party that is pro rich not middle class or the hardworking. Politicians like Rick Scott are using miorities like cubans for their votes while destroying the middle class and first responder professions.

You and yours are really myopic thinking dimwits.
People like you, Liberal Progressive Democrats (formerly known as Socialists) suffer from an untreatable condition referred to as “Anal -Cranial- Inversion”
Stop talking about things that you know nothing about. I seriously doubt that you have a degree in Economics, Public Administration or any or the related disciplines that would entitle you to make INTELLIGENT comments about what is taking place and why.
The world and this country are in serious economic trouble. Business as usual is not an option; moreover, the HEAD DIMWIT occupier in the White House is doing everything that he can to destroy this country and he has you as his puppet.

Arguments are won on thier merits those who choose to use dimwit, anal cranial, Ect just proves you can't provide evidence to support your claim.

If you want to debate politics my progressive self is down.

Obama a socialist? I doubt that his actions scream moderate republican if anything. He extended the bush taxes, continued/expanded wars, and continued the failed bailout policies.

Did you know police firefighter and any city service is "socialist".

Did you know Obamacare is crony capitalist? We are mandated to buy from corporate insurance and not have a public option.

Are you aware both parties are bought its only the fact republicans are just bought a tad bit more.

I can debate you anytime! Any place! My progressive ass will school any republican or weak democrat.

Let's set up a thread and debate issue by issue. Facts, data, and bipartisan studies are welcome!

OYE...your post was actually looking pretty interesting until you used the word dimwit. C'mon man you can do better that. As Chester would say... your post = fail. Try again later.

07-10-2012, 12:22 PM
The post was about supporting politicians like Rick Scott who are destroying our profession. Republicans in general look out for corporations and millionaires. No where No where does the post say I support Obama who is another
Politician but if i were to choose the lesser of two evils I would go with him,

The Middle Class is created by industry.
Industry creates jobs which in turn makes wage earners out of unemployed people.
I know that this is a old and tired phrase, but when was the last time a poor person gave you a job?
People like you talk as if being successful is a bad thing and those folks that took the financial risks to start business and worked their tails off to succeed are somehow bad people.
Industry creates something, lets call them wiggits, puts people to work in making the wiggits, sells the wiggits at a profit, pay the corporate taxes and if there is a lot of demand for the wiggits, they will expand and hire more people.
The thing that people like you forget is that the corporation that hired you is also paying in to your Social Security and whatever benefits package you may have.
In these troubled times, in order to help the corporations stay in business Florida has lowered the State Tax burden (not the federal) in the hopes that they can get through this depression and also make it palatable for out of state corporations to c0me to Florida and put Floridians to work.
When these corporations go under, the damage is not limited to the people that loose their jobs. Loss of Tax revenue, loss of Social Security contributions, damage to impacted communities with lower property values, people on welfare and foreclosures and some will argue higher crime rates.
Incidentally, our pay as Police Officers as well as all other government employees comes from a variety of taxes levied on not only industry but the citizens as well.
You see, government does not make wiggits or anything that makes a profit. It is solely sustained by taxation.
Now, if you want to get in to a discussion about how the City and other governmental entities prioritize the diminishing budget I will be glad to discuss that with you as well.

People like you talk as if being successful is a bad thing and those folks that took the financial risks to start business and worked their tails off to succeed are somehow bad people.

Success is not a bad thing but the security and opportunity this country offers their business justifies a tiered tax system. Many corporations pay less taxes then you and me which is wrong.

Also Person A makes 30,000 a year @ 15% tax rate he brings home = 25500

CEO of major company gets 5 million a year @ 15% tax rate he brings home = 4.25 million.

Who is going to be the one struggling to pay their bills? We should celebrate success but to be fair we should also make sure a stronger middle class can afford to buy products so that corporations can grow and thus jobs.

The thing that people like you forget is that the corporation that hired you is also paying in to your Social Security and whatever benefits package you may have.

Corporations only hire people because they need to meet the demands of the consumer. Without the middle class spending on goods you would not have corporations. So it's the consumer you drives the business and gives them the opportunity to grow not the other way around.

The trickle down concept is laughable at best. Corporate figure heads salaries have increased greatly during the recession while median families incomes have stayed steady for the past 50 years. Also american works productivity is up 250% but salaries do not reflect the increase in workload.

http://constitutionclub.files.wordpress ... hldinc.gif (http://constitutionclub.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/mnhshldinc.gif)

another counter to your argument is TAXES are at all time lows. Back in the great depression tax rates were 80% and they recovered and grew tremendously with tax rates 2x hire then the current rates.

When these corporations go under, the damage is not limited to the people that loose their jobs. Loss of Tax revenue, loss of Social Security contributions, damage to impacted communities with lower property values, people on welfare and foreclosures and some will argue higher crime rates.

Corporations will ALWAYS go under when the supporting class (us) can't afford to buy products from these companies. Corporations will only grow as long as the demand from the middle and lower class continues to grow.

People complain about the small percentage of low income people exploiting the system through welfare. No one ever complains about corporate welfare that many major corporations are receiving. The amount these companies siphon from the tax payers dwarfs those exploiting the system on the lower end.

2) Bank of America received a $1.9 billion tax refund from the IRS last year, although it made $4.4 billion in profits and received a bailout from the Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department of nearly $1 trillion. (Source: Forbes.com here, ProPublica here and Treasury here.)
3) Over the past five years, while General Electric made $26 billion in profits in the United States, it received a $4.1 billion refund from the IRS. (Source: Citizens for Tax Justice here and The New York Times here. Note: despite rumors to the contrary, the Times has stood by its story.)
4) Chevron received a $19 million refund from the IRS last year after it made $10 billion in profits in 2009. (Source: See 2009 Chevron annual report here. Note 15 on page FS-46 of this report shows a U.S. federal income tax liability of $128 million, but that it was able to defer $147 million for a U.S. federal income tax liability of $-19 million)
5) Boeing, which received a $30 billion contract from the Pentagon to build 179 airborne tankers, got a $124 million refund from the IRS last year. . (Source: Paul Buchheit, professor, DePaul University, here and Citizens for Tax Justice here.)

8) Citigroup last year made more than $4 billion in profits but paid no federal income taxes. It received a $2.5 trillion bailout from the Federal Reserve and U.S. Treasury. (Source: Paul Buchheit, professor, DePaul University, here, ProPublica here, Treasury Department here.)
9) ConocoPhillips, the fifth largest oil company in the United States, made $16 billion in profits from 2006 through 2009, but received $451 million in tax breaks through the oil and gas manufacturing deduction. Incidentally, our pay as Police Officers as well as all other government employees comes from a variety of taxes levied on not only industry but the citizens as well.
You see, government does not make wiggits or anything that makes a profit. It is solely sustained by taxation.

Government is not a business and should not be run like one. It does need to be run responsibly but at the present time I can only see corporate influence and money buying our government and directing it in there favor. In it's present form it's sucking the wealth to the top and making us fight for the crumbs. We can go into more detail about that but you seem smart enough to see both parties are bought branded and paid for.

Now, if you want to get in to a discussion about how the City and other governmental entities prioritize the diminishing budget I will be glad to discuss that with you as well.

I can go all day about how the city spends its money and how there is so many failures in the system that help only those who bought or are connected to those in charge.

I can go into all the specifics and data to support everything I've said above but I'll allow you to evaluate and decide what parts you'd like me to elaborate on.

Also to add to the above do you believe Obama is a "socialist"? Many repeat that talking point but his actions scream corporatist. He's a moderate republican if anything and has continued bushes failed policies. Anyone who thinks his policies reflect socialism they'd be wrong because they all benefit & protect those who ruined the system in the first place. It's a government/corporate merger continuation of the bush era.

I'm challenging anyone to put up evidence of his socialist policies here. I bet you I can prove they are to benefit a corporation and not government run.

WHat do Brahman, Marlins corp, Bank of America, Countrywide, BP oil, Merril Lynch to name a few have in common??? greed. CEOS that make what our city defecit is in one year !! Banks profited billions during the housing industry collapse, BP largest oil spill in history. None of the companies CEO's ever faced a day in jail.
Think about that, you create a chemical oil spill in your neighborhood or file a fraudulent mortgage document and see what happens? BP caused how much damage? The banks files how many fraudelent mortgages?
That they create jobs BS is just that BS!!!
These companies protected by politicians mostly Republican profit hundreds of billions and when they create disaters they still profit and give out bonuses.

Mean while politicians like Rick Scott and Romney go after teachers and cops benefits large companies do create jobs but you dont give them get out of jail card when they create disasters like the housing mortgate scam, spilling hundreds of millions og gallons of oil in the ocean. AFter the Exxon Valdez oil spill, Exxon became one of the most profitable companies in the world and not one person paid for their huge fck up.

Here in Miami politicains are giving away valuabe water front land such as Jungle Island, Virginia Key and the Marlins scam to name just a few. These back door deals cause millions in revenue to be lost to the city, they then make up the shortages form the backs of city workers.

I've replied to your thread in detail with objections to your above remarks. Seen 3 posts up and neatly quoted by issue. Do you concede the debate?
