South Florida Cops Disciplined For Running Computer Check On Trooper, Trooper To Sue Agencies

Shortly after the uproar due to her arresting a uniformed Miami Police officer in a marked cruiser, Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Donna Jane Watts made a request to the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. She wanted to be notified every time someone made a request to get her personal information from her drivers license. Now 2 police officers in Margate and one in Hollywood have received reprimands for running Watts drivers license information. Watts’ attorney expects to file suit next month against “numerous” law enforcement agencies in South Florida whose officers ran Watts through the computer.

As a 35 year veteran LEO (LOCAL) not FHP on the east coast, I hope she prevails and sends a clear message.

Start being police officers instead of a bunch of whiney individuals whom have a distorted picture of how things "should" be instead of following the professional image that they are supposed to portray.

Go ahead and fire away at your hater messages. Dont bother me in the least.

Quit being so juvenile and grow up.

YOUR AN IDIOT TO BELIEVE IF THE CASE WOULD'VE GONE TO TRIAL THE TROOPER WOULD HAVE BEEN CREDIBLE. SHE WOULD'T BE ABLE TO TESTIFY " LONG TIME LEO", SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN A NO SHOW. THE "STATE" LIKE THEY ALWAYS DO ACTED LIKE THEY HAD A CASE, IN THIS CASE THEY DID NOT! SO THEY THREATENED TO ADD "FLEEING AND ELUDING", WHICH IS A FELONY. IN THE PUBLIC EYE HE WAS ALREADY GUILTY, AND KNOWING HOW THE "STATE" WORKS THEY WOULD HAVE NOT GONE WITH A BENCH TRIAL INSTEAD THEY WOULD HAVE GONE THE "JURY" ROUTE. THE MIAMI OFFICER HAD MUCH RESTRAINT AFTER FACING A BARREL OF A GUN FOR A TRAFFIC VIOLATION THAT A TROOPER WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO JUSTIFY IN COURT.

The trooper is lucky the officer was a decent guy and said he was sorry instead of beating her ass all over the highway. I am sure it would be like bane and batman before her 94 showed up.

everyone knows why he wasn't x15 on the spot. Fhp supervision sucks. Always has always will.

Before someone can be convicted of the crime of aggravated fleeing to elude a law enforcement officer, the prosecutor must prove the following four things beyond a reasonable doubt:

1.The accused person was operating a vehicle upon a street or highway in Florida; YEP!

2.The accused, knowing he had been directed to stop by a duly authorized law enforcement officer, either

a. willfully refused or failed to stop the vehicle in compliance with the order; YEP! or
b. having stopped the vehicle, willfully fled in a vehicle in an attempt to elude the officer;

3.The law enforcement officer was in an authorized law enforcement patrol vehicle with agency insignia and other jurisdictional markings prominently displayed on the vehicle and with siren and lights activated; YEP! and

4.During the course of the fleeing or the attempt to elude, the accused drove at high speed or in any manner demonstrating a wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property. YEP!
