The 'investigation' into the detail office was a joke and sham and everyone at BSO knows it. Details have never been on the level or fair. Now you can sign up for text message notifications of open details that are already filled before anyone could possibly respond.
Why do we not have a detail software program like every other agency, in which you sign up by seniority for open details? There should not even be 'permanent details.' Makes for too cozy of a relationship with the permitee. And how about the details that guys have someone cover for 6-12 months when the get kicked off their shift. Then a year later, they take it back, and no one else ever gets to work it.
It's supposed to be extra money, not a fixed payment for your Harley, boat, camper, side ho, etc. I can already hear the whining from all the guys in the club with the detail office responding to this post.

I don't work details nor do I want to but here is another problem with some of you idiots that respond to posts. The original poster wanted to know about the distribution of funds taken out for each hour worked. Then you spin it in to a special detail office investigation. We all know what happens in the detail office for the select few and this bogus text/email notification system but for you to say that details should be picked by seniority is ridiculous. It might work for an agency with a 100 or 200 but for an agency that has 2000+ who can work details? Plus what happens to all the escorts that come in weekly or the other details that are requested at last minute. This agency does not have it's small amount of details that never change, it's always changing. The detail office has always been corrupt like the rest of this agency. Nothing you or anyone will ever be able to do about it. If you don't like making your $37 an hour for doing nothing, go get a $7 second job at walmart

Oh and to the original poster I am not sure about the exact distribution of funds but call payroll or even the detail office to get the correct answer. Nobody here will tell you

It's four bucks per hour and yes, it's tax deductible.

I gives out detail$$$ to whomever takes care of me in the office. I send out the details via text but they are already filled, even though I know its a police violation and shoud be done on a rotating basis

Thanks, that's what I thought. I was told that the $4 for every hour worked was tax deductible. Some folks say no because that money is taken out then your taxed. Your thoughts???

The 4 dollars is tax exempt(correct term) not tax deductible(incorrect usage of the term), this person gave you the correct explanation. Thus you are only taxed on the amount remaining after the admin fee is paid, no further deductions.

Yes in addition to being a cop(yes I have a second job) I am a tax professional (yes it pays better than my first job) and yes it's better than brown nosing the detail officer. :D :D :D

New detail coming soon for all law enforcement it's called The Rick Scott welfare detail. This detail allows you to go to the welfare office and stand in line with the people that we work so hard to support. After being beat down by half the people there you can file for welfare and receive some of those good ol benefits. One thing you must not piss hot, at least the first four times....then you trot over to the health department and pick up the prescriptions that our insurance won't cover us on. And oh ya they will give you the good stuff not that cheap generic crap they want us to get. He'll ya I'm in sign me up
