MIAMI -

A robber shot at a Miami city worker’s car Monday morning after realizing the worker witnessed his crime, police said.
Miami police said the worker was in his Public Works vehicle when he witnessed a robbery at Northwest Fifth Avenue and Northwest 67th Street.
The robber noticed that the worker had seen what happened and fired shots at him while he was in his car, police said.

I guess the Thugs found out that there is no more TOS.

Give a Press Conference now Manny. LOL.

12-12-2011, 07:40 PM
Speaking of press conferences. It was so nice to see how all the staff was laughing and kidding with the mayor while he is cutting our pay and benefits. The staff is just a bunch of butt kissers and Orosa is at the head of the line

Man and I really thought the walking K-9 detail would work.......

I hope you aren't depending on Robbery to do anything. Orosa transferred several of the detectives back to patrol so there would be a more visible deterrent on the street. How's that working out for you Manny? That's what you get when you let Luisito and Johnny the dormant run the police department.

I have never seen it worse. Do yourself a favor and listen to the Chief and avoid any confrontations. Let the citizens get robbed and/or shot and we can take the report and hopefully arrest them at a later date.

It may not sound too good but its the smart way to go. Answer the calls that you get dispatched to, make a report and hope that you don't see anything that you may have to take action on.

I understand that the County PD will be escorting their workers when they have to perform any services in the North end as they realize that the city is unsafe.

Dear INTERM chief Orosa, how can you sleep at night? When former Chief Exposito formed a city rid unit (tru) consisting of 2 teams (7 officers and 1 sgt each), he created it keeping in mind that this team would provide 7 day coverage working solely on robberies. Tru was involved in nearly 400 arrests of thugs armed with guns in less then 2 years and only had one shooting. The subject shot was in front of a middle school armed with a 12 gauge SHOTGUN and these HEROES kept children safe by keeping him out of a packed school. You, in your infinate wisdom go and send 9 of these officers back to uniformed patrol and now you only have a 6 member team that are off on the weekends. How can you honestly say you care for the officers or the community when YOU have made the streets MORE DANGEROUS for everyone except the mayors reelection campaign. Your not fooling anyone by saying you did it to save on overtime when officers are still forced to stay because of sick callers. You and the mayor have cut off you noses to spite your face and the 30% spike in violant crime since you were appointed PROVES such. Mayor regalado has dissapointed this city at every turn. MARLINS STADIUM, CRIME, LYING ON THE RECORD, 4 CITY MANAGERS, BRIBING EXPOSITO, CHEATING ON FORMS FOR CAMPAIGN MONEY, SEC VIOLATIONS, BOND DOWNGRADING, LAWSUITS AND CRIMINAL ACTIVITY. You and this puppet for a chief have made Miami a dangerous laughing stock of the nation. HOW CAN YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT?

If things were out of control, REv. Dunn would've been on the news and newspaper but he isn't so I guess it is not that bad.

Redeploying TOS officers back to patrol was a necessary decision; reducing the Tactical Robbery Unit (TRU) was not. Like the County’s Robbery Interdiction Detail, TRU is the proactive arm of the Robbery Investigation Section. Instead of reducing TRU’s numbers, Orosa should have clearly defined TRU’s mission, beyond their previous operational directives. A mission that directs TRU officers to focus exclusively on evidence-based data that identifies robbery suspects and offenders wanted on PC or capias. Marching orders that direct TRU to surveil areas where crime analysis indicates vehicles are stolen in order to commit robberies and where they are later dumped after the crimes are perpetrated. Locations where analysis shows robbery patterns and trends by day of the week and time of the day; to do this, Orosa needs a well staffed TRU; not a depleted one. Robbery is UCR’s third most pernicious crime and often leads to even more violent ones; it must be vigorously pursued. If Orosa is not the chosen one, hopefully whoever Johnny Martinez appoints, will have the leadership and investigative insight to see the need for an adequately staffed TRU. Should Orosa get it, he should reconsider fully staffing TRU.

12-13-2011, 07:14 AM
deplete TRU and keep PST, really? He should had made TRU stronger by taking bodies from PST!You think the citizens care more about quality of life arrest over the arrest of violent armed criminals?

Can i get a AMEN!

12-13-2011, 08:39 AM
The politicians care about numbers not quality. Expo attempted to do real police work and politically paid the price. Face it folks we are a city hall department with zero backbone

12-13-2011, 01:11 PM
Don't worry about all the units back in patrol! PST is taking more bodies in central! We are saved!!

You talk about crime being out of control? It has spread to the south end of the city near City Hall. Maybe the politicians may intercede because it is getting close to them and the areas where they live.

I just saw a truck hijacking on TV, it took place at South Dixie Hwy. and 27 Ave. I think the previous truck hijacking that occurred in the city of Miami was in 1997.

We are now averaging 10 to 12 armed robberies a day citywide. Violent is out of control in the city since Orosa downsized the tactical units. I guess the fact that there aren't any police confrontations occuring makes this increase in violent crime acceptable.

If this would have occurred during Exposito's administration, the media would have been blasting him and his staff.

The p o s are afraid of their own shadows and the bad guys know this. Most blame the chief and commissioners but in reality the p o s are on duty 10 hours a day four days a week and more. No one can really stop crime from happening. But a little "real" policing go a long way. Coward cops will always lead to brazen acts of crime. Retreating out of an area and not enforcing laws will lead to lawlessness. After expo pulled tos out of the north end thinking retreating is the solution, it created this chaos. Until the proactive units do proactive enforcement consistently in the north, the violence will continue. Yes they kicked some of em to the streets. CRY ME A RIVER. There are still some still there and if they cant do the job, there are plenty waiting to take their places.

It's really gotten out of hand. It nice that the county RID will be taking care of business.

A long, long time ago; in a God forsaken patrol zone called Central District, an old cop told me: Don’t worry about it, in very few times we are able to prevent crimes; most times we are like garbage men, we collect the human debris that’s left behind after crimes are perpetrated. If we are lucky, there might be evidence and witnesses’ testimony that we might use against the offenders IF and When we eventually apprehend them and can successfully prosecute them or plea bargain the cases to lower crimes. It is what it is! Do your best each day, stay safe, go home to your family, put your time in and when you feel it is right to go . . . do so! Another bright-eyed young person with delusions of making a difference will be there to fill your slot.

you must be orosa himself or at least one of his staff members,

TOS was working until orosa did what he did. typical staff member...do more with less

you can't cut proactive units down to a 3rd of what they were and expect to get the same results. TOS worked because it was proactive 7 days a week on all shifts.
