View Full Version : Are 7 good officers worth 1 corrupt Sergeant?

Apparently they are not, so they were fired without notice. Oh, and the chief as well so that makes 8 firings in one week.

Well you mean 6 good ofc's. As for Xavi and Zayas it was long over due for the crap they pulled when the former chief was still there.

Maybe you forgot that Xavi blackballed alot ofc's that were fired. He made sure that ofcs didn't recieve unemployment benefits. He also made sure that they didn't gain employment else where . I recall speaking with the late Dave Guevarra and told me how Xavi screwed him over in getting a job with Medly PD.

As for Zayas I also recall him cozying up to the former chief and was a hardass to ofc's in general. He wrote up alot of ofc's and fired a couple.

So for those two its just Karma.

For the rest of the Ofc's its a shame that they were fired. I wish them the best and I hope the eventually find a job soon. Good luck

When there is corruption in society, there can be no justice. Long ago I served the Tribe and saw injustice after injustice against the poor dependant wage slave that was all of us. I see nothing has changed.

Want to fix the problem?

1. quit your PO Job.
2. contact the media and the BIA.
3. contact former Officers.
4. coordinate a demonstration outside their money maker
(the casino on Krome & 8st)

We will ALL be happy to respond. TRUST ME on that one.

This is unbelievable. I never worked out there but I was a friend of several staff members/officers back in the day; this has gone on for nearly a decade.

I realize the tribe is sovereign and they can do whatever they want to do, but I still don't understand how this happens. I thought that when you hired American taxpayers who are registered by the state of Florida as certified officers (in a dept also registered by the state of Fla), they would have the backing of the state and federal government when it comes to unfair labor practices. You guys are talking about 6-9 people here but there's been at least 50-80 people fired for BS reasons over the past 10-15 years.

Why has the government not stripped the tribe's certification to have a police department by now? Is it because officers are not coming forward or something? I just can't understand how this can happen for decades without someone raising an eyebrow...especially since the state of Florida is investigating so many other issues involving the tribe.

All I can say is, you guys need to stop bickering among yourselves and come together as one voice. The law is on your side, there are state investigative offices that handle these types of issues, and wrongful termination is definitely still a civil liability in the United States of America...regardless of who signs the paychecks. You guys are/were police officers, start thinking like one again and use the system to seek justice.

the problem is the officers who are currently working there like it. The truth is they cannot work at a real deptartment because they like the security guard type lay low and hide work. If not they would leave instead of saying they are planning to leave. One friend of mine stated why not come to work sit in my car at a "checkpoint" for 8 hrs instead of runnin after people and making arrests.now he finds himself struggling at a real dept. Because he knows shit about law and street tactics..PSA's with arrest powers is what ive heard them referred to as... These guys dont wanna be real cops and will not stand up for themselves because they fear the indians. Its a shame u guys will not start acting like cops ... Get out before u ruin ur career

To say that all the officers that work there are not real cops is far from the truth. YES there are some that would not make it in another police dept cause they are either lazy or don't know jack about real police work.

The flip side is that there are A LOT of good officer there that do work and actually go out and produce. The officer's that got fired for the most were all great officers and there are still great ones left there.

Trust me when I say that no one ever plans on staying there very long and the ones that are there are doing it so that they can gain some experience and a paycheck until other departments open up. Call the nature of work they do as "psa's" or not but unless you have met with some of these guys and worked with them then you will realize that they are great officers. Yes the dept is slow and not much happens but when it does there are and were a few guys who knew how to handle business.

Again no need to stereo type all the officers at the dept cause of a few lazy cowards who are job scared.... Believe it or not there is good there, to bad no one at the tribe cares......

Let's get the facts straight so people really know the story, not the rumors. Several of the hardest working midnight officers saw a department going downhill faster than ever before... and we made a positive action. We were not lazy security guards sitting a checkpoint booth... the officers fired and the good ones remaining heavily enforce traffic, make plenty of arrests for a small department, and conduct more than enough investigations. We work on par with Florida Highway Patrol, and even a few of us out-produce them on statistics when we work in unison on the I-75. Like all media, you only hear the negative, but you will never hear the good. You won't hear about lives saved, or good arrests made... you will only hear that all Miccosukee LEO's are lazy and corrupt.

Anyhow... good officers were in fear for their jobs, safety, and career as LEO's. Overall, spirits were low from it already being a slow department to start with, having a bad track record of firings, and then having seen many good friends wrongfully terminated or reprimanded. In a department with so little morale and so much bad press, a select few looked to fight against it... but the first step was to raise the topic of the Sergeant on duty who was a major contributor to the bad press at Miccosukee. Like real LEO's, the officers who fought against her followed policy, procedure, and the laws surrounding them.

The story on Nicole Williams is that she sought to tarnish LEO records and files, so hard-working officers could not get jobs elsewhere. She cancelled backup, interfered with radio communication, and did everything against all officer safety procedures so officers would get hurt in the line of duty. Nicole Williams went so far as to tell officers not to backup Florida Highway Patrol when they requested assistance. The good officers who knew better, took the reprimand from Nicole Williams to back up fellow LEO's, even though they were instructed not to. She would also conveniently disappear when officers requested their Sergeant, and would reappear in the hands of tribal members after having been with them in the middle of the night for hours on end. For lack of a better word, she violated every policy as a Sergeant.

At first, she sought to separate the officers by not allowing them to communicate with each other. A good few banded together, and our concerns were voiced through meetings to bring everyone together. We helped eliminate the fear and intimidation of people being afraid to lose their jobs, and we instilled in our fellow officers' minds that we MUST act as LEO's... and take the necessary steps. We spoke with Nicole Williams directly to advise of her actions, and as expected, she saw it as insubordination. Therefore, by policy, we had to go to the next supervisor in line, being Lieutenant/ICOP Gonzalez. We met with him on several occasions to discuss an investigation as to the compitence of Nicole Williams as a Sergeant. Our instruction from Gonzalez was that he 'needed more' officers, however, many feared the repricussions from Nicole Williams by voicing their concerns. Since our voice was not heard and we needed more officers to step forward, we then formed a memo in writing to present to Gonzalez. The purpose of the memo was to show the real amount of officers that wanted to voice their concerns, but had not done so. It was a memo request to INVESTIGATE the matter... not fire, not demote, nothing else. It was not a high school petition... we are not children. Remember... our oath as LEO's from the academy was to uphold the laws and truth, no matter what department we worked for.

The Memo read as follows...

"TO INTERIM CHIEF OF POLICE XAVIER GONZALEZ:

As Miccosukee Police Officers, we believe that as a supervisor, Sgt. N. Williams, has gone against her role as a Sergeant and does not have the best interests of the department as a whole, and that of the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida.

As Officers, we have a lack of confidence and faith in the leadership skills of Sgt. N. Williams. Sgt. N. Williams causes negative attitudes among the officers within her current and previous shifts, unnecessary tensions, provides a hostile work environment, and does not treat others fairly. Sgt. N. Williams does not provide an example of a leader, but an example of a supervisor who dictates what should be done, yet does not follow their own advice. Sgt. Williams is condescending on report writing, creates a negative atmosphere, and becomes increasingly unprofessional and unbecoming when any officer attempts to raise a concern with her. Sgt. N. Williams lacks concern for officer safety and guides Officers under a path of individualism, rather than that of a collective group working together to strive towards a common goal.

With the following mentioned, we hereby request for an investigation regarding the supervisory abilities of Sgt. N. Williams. We request the investigation determine the outcome of Sgt. N. Williams as a supervisor. All Miccosukee Police Officers who have signed this document have done so freely and agree to all of the above that has been mentioned in writing. As such, all following Miccosukee Police Officers, henceforth, agree to provide evidence and testament regarding Sgt. N. Williams' actions as a supervisor, should such an investigation arise.

SIGNED BELOW MENTIONED OFFICERS"

To all my friends who work there still and are currently reading this, I am sorry I was unable to go 06 over the radio one last time and say my goodbyes in person. I was called over the phone and asked not to come back in two hours after my shift. Stay safe and keep your heads held high.

THEY FAIL TO MENTION THEY THEMSELVES MESSED AROUND WITH TRIBAL MEMBERS TO GET WHAT THEY COULD OUT OF THEM. ONE OFFICER GOT FIRED BECAUSE HE WAS STUPID ENOUGH TO MARRY A TRIBAL MEMBER & DIVORCED NOT TOO LONG AFTER. THE INTERIM POLICE CHIEFS SECRETARY IS ONE THAT USE TO MESS AROUND WITH THE NOW CHAIRMANS BROTHER AND ANOTHER TRIBAL MEMBER AND BRAGGED ABOUT IT TO FELLOW CO-WORKERS BUT YET SHE STILL WORKS THERE. THEY ARE ALL LAZY AND USE THE TRIBE TO GET THEIR LITTLE TRAINING AND MOVE ON TO OTHER DEPARTMENTS. THE OFFICERS WANT TO ACT LIKE VICTIM'S HERE YET THEY BROUGHT THIS ALL ON THEMSELVES. YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING YOURSELF INTO WHEN WORKING FOR THE MICCOSUKEE TRIBE. GOOD LUCK TO ALL AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU!

What a shame to hear Xavi sold his soul to the Tribe. I remember this guy to be humble and sincere. based on what I hear (And It came from a good source) I'm glad to hear he got his in the end. The one thing you can't do in law enforcement is cross your fellow Officers Chiefy or should I say X-Chiefy. Karma is a beach. LOL

Good Luck passing any PO employment process in this county. Mr. X

Very sorry to hear about your officers being let go, and also very sorry to hear you were told not to assist or 10-94 (15 ) with us. You have ALWAYS been more than a help when we had something going on Krome Avenue or Tamiami Trail. I hope for both of our sakes it changes back. Best of luck to all of you with what's going on.
