Has anyone started the process?

Hope you get hired before July 1st, if not you should find a municipal agency.

After July 1 you will have to work 8 years to get vested, your pension will be based on your highest 8 years which isnt very high to begin with here. You have to work 30 years to collect your pension and for the next five years no one in the system will be earning a COLA towards there pension.

Threre is no pay plan here, you start at 41,000 and you may be at the same $41,000 five years from now, and by the way July 1 you start paying Rick Scott's tax of 3% so you are back under $40,000 already. There is very limited overtime here and no offduty work, there are no take home cars and you have the choice of working the road or working the road.


You can make more money at Wackenhut but if you get hired after July 1 you have been warned and we dont want to here you whine once you are here how this place blows.

This place is only good for people who have retired from other agencies and are looking for a second income.
