North Port is not as financially stable as the city of Sarasota yet their commission just increased their police officers pension and approved 20 years of service retirement at 70%. Our city is trying to strip away current earned benefits and pensions while crying poor. The city of Sarasota is then purchasing 20+ trees from California at over $7,000 a tree for Lido. What is wrong here?
Priorities are so skewed in the city of Sarasota. Not only can this money be better spent in this trying economy, why not support local businesses instead of California businesses.
On a side note, the email from the head of public works justifying their billing of police vehicles is insulting to every city employee.
North Port might not have as big of a tax base as the city of Sarasota, but at least their commissioners and residents know that in poor economic times public safety should still be a priority and brick paver round a bouts and pretty parks don't keep the community safe and should be the first things tabled until better times.
Great media coverage on this issue! Oh, we forgot if it isn't negative about police they don't care.

Two things are causing our issues, The main one is Bob Bartolotta, and the second one is our city commision doesnt care for the police. This city is very strange. we have a great police department, and city hall is 100 percent against us. I dont get it, You would think they would support their PD, but nope.

We had a great police department. Not so much anymore. Everyone has to walk on eggshells and worry what are they going to do to us, next. Internal and external. Just trying to survive.
