Besides, if he leaves, which I doubt very seriously, all of damage and changes he's done will still remain in tact. Also, who would be his successor?

everybody I talk to says they are checking the newspapers daily to see when Al resigns or gets arrested...just like when Jenne was at the end.

It's sure starting to feel like it did when Jenne went down. I remember alot of whispers in the hallway and then eventually the axe fell.
